Is there a bug with the trapper snake (Ivyroot Mamba)?

I was doing raids and someone was complaining they died because of a bug with the trapper snake perk. They believe it somehow increases the damage enemies due to you, Basically insta killing anyone. I have no idea if this is true I don't want to be the reason people are dying. Anyone know if there's any validity to this theory or if the snake negatively affects teammates another way?
