Recently I bought some crates from the store and when I went to scrap my duplicates I was met with a horrendous GUI. I could not even see all the cosmetics I should have been able scrap. After also having skimmed through the cosmetics use menu I could clearly see that these two areas had been overlooked. Thus I decided to try to pinpoint the flaws of the current interface and give a suggestion on how to improve it.

    The Use Menu
First out is the use menu. It really bothers me that there are no “back" buttons. If you accidentally click on the wrong thing, such as Attack Effect instead of Player Effects you have to close down the menu and start over. Sure it is just a minor inconvenience, but it is annoying.

Easiest fix for this is to add a button that takes you back to the previous window. See the picture for an example of how that could look. Yes I know you could have gotten to that interface through the command “/use” and in that case the back button will return the player to the compass interface aswell.

Right now the menus for selecting a cosmetic item to use are cluttered and not at all intuitive. You can not easily see what effect is in use and therefore have to hover over all the icons until you find the correct one in case you want to turn it off. There also does not appear to be a specific way the cosmetics are ordered, they seem to just be randomly arranged, however I am not sure of this. Correct me if I’m wrong.

To improve this, I suggest that when choosing either Attack Effect, Player Effects, Pets, Gear Skins or Disguises a new interface would come up looking somewhat like this.

    1. The green back button will return you to the previously mentioned use menu.

    2. This is the place your currently active effect will show up. When having no cosmetic selected in that category this slot will be empty and nothing would happen when pressing it. However when you have an effect in use it shows up here. Pressing it will disable the effect.

    3. This slot is to showcase what category of cosmetic you are currently looking at. In this instance it is the Player Effects menu and thus the flint and steel is shown. Pressing it would select and activate a random effect in that category.

    4. This slot is for the sorting of the effects. Left-clicking it would cycle through different methods of sorting the cosmetics. Right-clicking would chose the selected sorting as your default one. Think of the filtering system on the in-game marketplace. The various ways of sorting could for example be by “Rarity Ascending”, in which case the common cosmetics would come first and the black market cosmetics would come last. “Rarity Descending” where the cosmetics would sort in descending order. “Type” would sort the items by type, for example it would group up the wand skins with each other, the horse cloaks with each other, the swirl effects with each other. “Name” where the cosmetics would just sort in alphabetical order. Also, when the sorting is in conflict with something it will always sort by “Rarity Ascending” first followed by “Type”, followed by “Name”.

Lastly for the use menu, just change the Mob Totem menu to one row as you cannot have more than six totems at once. Also add a back button.

    The Scrap Menu
For my suggestion to work a new texture needs to be added, a horizontal inventory column. As with the use menu there will be a back button which takes you back to the “Manage Crates” interface. (Of course that window would also get a back button.)

Pressing either of the five scrappable cosmetic categories would take you to their respective scrap menu, see the pictures below for an example of how it could look.

    1. The check mark would work as it does today in the way that having five cosmetics of the same rarity will let you scrap them for a higher tier. When you go between the different categories of cosmetics using the back button and choosing another category from the scrap menu the cosmetics would stay in their place. Pressing the back button in the main scrap menu would reset the chosen cosmetics to be scrapped whilst simultaneously taking you back as stated before.

    2. Just the normal back button which takes you back to the main scrap menu.

    3. As mentioned in the section about the use menu, this slot is to showcase what category you have chosen. However, in contrast with the use menu, when you press it five random cosmetics you have duplicates of in that category of the same rarity would be chosen to be scrapped. It starts off trying to choose five commons, if that does not work it goes up the rarities. If it is not possible at all it will just not work.

    4. Just like the use menu you would be able to sort the scrappable cosmetics in the same way.

Lastly, please change the name of “Attack Effect” and “Bomb” to “Attack Effects” and “Bombs” as all cosmetic categories are written in plural except these ones. It is just mildly annoying.
