General Improve Guards To Stop Pmis

Should Guards be improved, and if so, how?

  1. Guards should have Speed 1

  2. Guards should have Speed 2

  3. Guards should be able to implement explosions somehow

  4. Guards should be able to use an Ice Snake type ability

  5. There should be more Guards, posted throughout the city

  6. Guards should be improved, just not in any of these ways(Suggest way down below)

  7. Guards are fine as they are

  8. Guards aren't very good, but PMIs are so infrequent that they don't need to be improved

    Player Made Invasions may be illegal, but that isn't enough to deter many players who have their mind set on it. Anyone who actually wants to can easily perform a Player Made Invasion. This is because the Guards protecting cities are not strong enough, no matter where you go. For example, I was near Llevigar today. After about ninety seconds, I got a "horde" of six ogres to follow me. Then, I walked towards Llevigar with the horde in pursuit, to see whether or not the Golem Guards protecting Llevigar could kill all six ogres or not. As I walked into Llevigar, four of the six were killed, but two of the ogres safely got into Llevigar, with the guards walking back to their posts, ignoring them(I killed the ogres right after I realized the Guards weren't going to, in case you're wondering if this qualifies as a PMI). In other words, guards generally cannot completely dispel hordes of more than four mobs. If Player Made Invasions are to be prevented, I recommend these ways of making it harder for player-made invasions to succeed:
    1. Give Guards Speed 1. This simple change would make guards significantly better at killing invading mobs, as they would be able to catch up to them rather than run at the same speed as them. If Guards had Speed II, that would be even better. Personally, I think Guards should have Speed if nothing else, as this would be the easiest change to Guards to implement, making them more effective without changing their attack types.
    2. Give Guards an ability which involves explosions. This could do damage to multiple mobs at once.
    3. Give Guards some type of Ice Snake ability. This would do damage to invading mobs, as well as giving guards time to catch up to them.
    4. Post Guards throughout the city. This would be a bit extreme, although it would also be effective.
    Although Player Made Invasions are infrequent, they are very easy to perform with current Guards. Improving the Guards would make them all but impossible to perform.

    P.S. This is not the first forum thread to exist suggesting Guards should be improved. The original(And better) thread was posted by _Star(It won't let me post the link to the thread, as I do not yet have ten posts).

    imo, and you can't judge or change how I think about it, unless you try really hard and don't insult me, players shouldn't be afk. Why do you need to afk? SP regen? You're not supposed to afk to get regen, go outside. Sp is supposed to come back as you adventure.

    I think that guards should do damage according to thier level (A lv 50 golem would deal the average damage of a lv 50 player)

    I think it's a bit extreme, I think they should simply have some speed and have a wider range of 'sight' (wether or not they can see the mob). I like the idea of them shooting an explosive to take out hordes, but the ice snake is a little overkill. Besides, even if you do make the guards stronger, lvl 100 players can quicly take them out before leading the swarm into the city.

    The worst is Detlas, because I get followed straight into the Identifier by MooShrooms all the time by accident. I have gotten into the habit of walking backwards when entering Detlas so as to avoid accidentally creating invasions.
    The reason it is the worst is because Detlas has more low levels than anywhere (obviously). There is nothing worse than having a MooShroom kill your 3rd level bank class while your trying to do some bidness.

    Guards do damage in proportion to their levels, but this isn't enough sometimes. It's not individual mobs that overwhelm Guards - it's hordes.

    You're right. The Mooshrooms make Detlas particularly bad - the Guards could barely even kill one Mooshroom that I led between them! Although there are also usually high level players in Detlas(As it is a major Wynn hub) and Mooshrooms are also low level, this is still a major problem in Detlas now that it's been pointed out.
