What is sad is that all the 'new' gamemodes are just pvp games. Last 3 games put in the prototype lobby are just dull team pvp games. Last gamemode they put that needed skill to win, zombies, was deemed not popular 'because it was too hard'.

I will never understand why vanilla PVP is so popular on a server that has games such as Quake, Blocking dead, Wizards, and other incredibly unique and interesting games.

Ya they added guns in the 2nd or 3rd major update to that game. That game was/is nothing but an attempt to cash in on the fortnite craze.​

Man, this thread is depressing. I remember a few years ago everyone here really liked Hypixel. When I checked on the server today only 29 people were in warlords, not even enough for 1 game to start! Most of the games now (such as murder mystery) seem no where near as fleshed out as even stuff like that Arena game.

 

Remember when Hypixel created the classic lobby to dump all the dead games they’ll never update in a 100 years? Yeah that was so great that they decided to make garbage pvp trash like The Pit and The Bridge.

 

Yeah, it takes a lot of trial and error to find a good class and there are a lot of stats to read aswell. Not just find good weapon, kill everything like in most gamemodes. Unless your first weapon is rare you might have a rough start.

 

They released PTL because they were running out of GOOD ideas. Judging from how they are acting now, they just make a bunch of half baked games and throw them in there hoping they will take off. And something else regarding bedwars: Bedwars was taken directly from a much older server called Mineverse. The first version of it even had one of the maps if I recall correctly. I don't know if MV or CC came up with the gamemode first but still, Hypixal jacked bedwars directly from another server.

 

Same with Zombies, Hide n seek farm hunt etc.

Don't get me started on the bridge, I can write a wall of text so big Trump would be impressed. Don't get me wrong, I really like hypixel as a server overall, I've had fun many times with friends there. But the fact that ALL the new games are just crap new PVP games that get all the attention. Because only the crap new games get attention, most of the older games barely get a debugging update. That being said, the devs are still somewhat active on the forums. I got a reply from one (I'll post it below) on a thread announcing they were gonna rework there fortnite rip off. So at least they don't COMPLEATLY ignore the players. That being said; I don't know how seriously they take player advise.

PTL games are really just made for dev's to experiment. Hypixel himself said that, and most of these PTL games recently have been made by new developers that are just trying out new things to see what sort the community likes. It isn't likely all these games will be released though.
The PTL games there though are very stale, I can agree with you on that. But different people have different spans on how much they can enjoy something, so to someone, The Bridge is extremely boring but to someone else they enjoy it. It's hard to have a balance really, it does cost a lot of money, even though I'd like to see older games in the classic lobby receive an update, it's sadly a risk of money because of the such low player count on the games as hypixel said, though I still blame the fact it has a low player count for the fact is has had no good content updates over the past years.
They seem to focus their attention a lot on bed wars as well. Its content is fine as it is right now, and yet they just keep adding to it more. It's just unneeded at this point, but it's only because of its popularity. There's so much potential in some of the older/newer games, and yet they just aren't recognising it because they see it as a risk of losing money, which is fine to a certain extent, but when your player count is dropping that's when you have to start waking up.

 

1. Ptl games are experiment, cept they are EXACT clones with no improvment, they just make the community build the game
2. new devs? Lol Minikaloon or whatever and the other admins are doing em aint they?
3. Bedwars makes money, money = yes
adventure lobby = no money = no, shutdown now

 

What really pisses me off is that there are a ton of minigames on Hypixel that are just ignored. Hypixel is following the mindset that you should make a mediocre to decent game that everyone can find some fun in rather than make a game that a select group of people adore. I loved Arena Brawl and Warlords, almost everyone who played it loved it. But they don't cater to a large audience. This is completely stupid. If you're making a game, make it the best game ever, not the most popular game ever.
