Hypixel...

Honestly I hate the BedWars version on Hypixel (although I had a quite good start xD, one game one win eight kills (two final kills) no death). Sadly I cant compare it to EggWars as I never played that, but I can compare it to the multiple versions of BedWars that were created on german minecraft servers long time before it got copied on Hypixel. While some of those version were not good at all, others were really good and I enjoyed playing. But when I tested the version on Hypixel I stopped after one game. It was just disappointing.

that was literally the only thing i did on hypickle back in the day
even if it was the same 4 maps (herobrine ones, wrath of the fallen and wither's challenge) they were enjoyable as fuck

i killed lots of stuff actually
shooting people from 40 blocks away and killstealing but its killing
the thing is, the game is indeed boring, it has nothing to do besides punching each other to death, its a basic kit with 5 modifiers
it does have potential, but for now, its clear it has a lot to go through

Don't forget how Hypixel "made" Murder Mystery which is literally just GMOD Murder, and they weren't even the first server to do it in Minecraft. As far as I know, that honor goes to MCPZ.

 

As someone who has been on hypixel for a while now: I can tell you with 100% certainty what the entire PTL is there for

The devs are getting super lazy and they want cash.

The PTL lets them half-bake games to throw them out there. If the are popular, they might get an update or two, if it dose not take off, It is dead and they never touch it again. PTL is just an easy way for them to throw half baked ideas onto the server. They don't care about older gamemodes at all. One of my favorite games on the server, TNT wizards, Is having some SERIOUS bug and class balance issues. Another (MUCH more popular) gamemode, TNT tag, has not gotten a solid update in years. Hypixel went full cash-grab mode and unless kids are throwing down money at said game. They even added LOOT BOXES (I'm talking the-overwatch-style-everyone-hates-them style of lootbox, All of the content is cosmetic.) to A few of the newer games. I could rant on and on on the number of cash grabs the server is doing but I already put a trump-sized wall here.

 

It shouldn't be forgot that Hypixel is one of these networks that basicly are businesses, sure they need money to sustain.
But, they used to be those innovative guys, but nowadays I think they're more leaning towards maximum profit. They keep adding in more and more cosmetics.
New gamemodes? Meh, they aren't fun at all (to me atleast). Older gamemodes? Some are fun, most are not. Nowadays they update them purely for cosmetics
more cosmetics? = more cash

yeah sure
but minigames are the main feature of the server
and what attracts people in the first place
no people = no cosmetics sold = no money
sure, stuff so the ranks are worth it to buy is nice, but it just makes the server P2P, you would have to pay to access most of the server in that case

To be honest, I don't really see how hypickle is that p2w. I mean, what can you really buy with money?

- Boosters, which affect the whole community
- Mystery Boxes, which are cosmetics and don't help you gameplay wise
- Loot Chests, which are cosmetics and BARELY help you gameplay wise
- Ranks, which barely give any advantages. You can select a specific map on some games, but that's about it (There may be a couple different things, but I looked over the list and I didn't really see much)

The server is a bit crash grabby (loot chests out of my face) but Minecraft is dying so the high pickle needs better income

Yes, you can level up your character before the game, but any player can do that.

I will admit that many of the new games aren't exactly creative or have effort put into them (The Pit is pretty cool but definitely needs work) and that they are ignoring pretty much all of the older games though.

 

Actually, you can tip people that bought a coin booster, so there's an option for them to get free money.

Judging from the fact that they released a cancerous new bedwars beta: I'm gonna assume its the full vesion... of a stupid gamemode... that's gonna die in a few months... because its horrible.

And speaking of said new gamemode, Coming from a programmer's point of view: its laziness on Garfield levels of lazy. ALL THEY DID was add ONE script, something that would take a whole 5 minutes with all the resources hypixel has at there disposal... and they slapped that on and called it a new gamemode.
