I think the one i pronounce the most wrong in cinfras idk why but i got into the habbit of calling it Sin-frans I just randomy added an "N" at the second part

 

Spanish is my native language, so if I ever come across something that isn't an English word, I automatically say it mentally with the Spanish pronunciation until I learn otherwise.

For example, I pronounced "Almuj" as "Al-Moo" for a while because "j" makes the "h" sound. Or, " 'ælmu " for those of you who know IPA.

"Llevigar" to this day is pronounced as "Jev-ih-gar" by me as double L or "elle" makes the "J" sound. " 'ʤɛvɪˌgər " for the IPA folks. Even if it is "Le" or "lɛ", I've seen elle too many times in my life to make the automatic change.

I think it's a lot funnier to compare different dialects of the same language. I have a friend whose dialect is in relation to Peninsular Spanish, so "ce", "ci" and "z" are pronounced as "th" by him, while my Latinamerican Spanish has me pronounce them with an "S" more often than not. This means when he and I saw Cinfras, I said, "Seen-fras" and he said "Theen-fras".

 

Never really thought about this as I've never really heard anyone else say these, but it's very interesting. Here's how I pronounce some of the cities:

It’s defintely a bit of a guessing game if you’ve never heard anyone say the names before (I still haven’t). Don’t worry about right and wrong- this is all in good fun and to have a friendly giggle over wild pronunciations.
