Forcing someone to spell things correctly or at least decent is wrong. It is not their fault for not being able to. They may be young or as you mentioned, dyslexic.

Everyone has their own definition of useful content, so this is bleh.

Perhaps we could have people re-write posts that are difficult to read in the comments below the original post?

While that's true, I'd take it over countless comments mentioning the poster's spelling/grammar skills, and no one commenting on the actual content of the post (which is quite saddening).

 

This is a guide on how to avoid hate on the forums. He's not forcing anyone to write decently, he's just explaining a way that you won't get hate. These aren't rules (well most of them anyway), just helpful suggestions that it should be relatively obvious to begin with.
And you say everyone has an opinion on what quality is, well most people will tell you, saying something like, "I luv Wynncraf" and have that be a thread is useless.
On your last point, putting something in the wrong section shouldn't be a mistake. Putting a ban appeal in the "General Suggestions" category makes no sense. I've seen it multiple times, and it never fails to amaze me.

For the actual thread, the only other thing I can think of is "Put detail in your General Suggestion posts." That's the largest cause of hate that I've seen.

 

I'm just going to put this:

There is NO WAY to avoid hate. It's not possible. No matter how perfect, how neat, how creative your post is, you're going to be criticized. The world has cyberbullies.

 

Or people can just learn to be nice and understand that everyone makes mistakes ...

 

How to avoid hate:
Be uber popular and people will shove likes at you even if you simply make a one word thread. \(o3o)/

 

You could have a tl;dr of "Use common sense."

The sad thing is this is true. look at @Salted 's profile page. EVERYTHING there isn't posted by him, simply because he's an admin.

 

Of course there isn't a way to completely avoid hate, but if you format neatly, and try to stick to some basic guidelines, you won't be getting hate from a significant part of the community. It's not that the community is composed of cyberbullies, it's that the community is composed of those who wish to be able to access information without having to re-organize whole paragraphs.

Those who will hate regardless will hate regardless, but this post isn't aimed at stopping them. What this post is aimed at, is to deflect the wrath of the format-loving wynncrafters at the poor newcomer to the forums. :P
