We need amendments to this document.
Fellow soldiers, to become a deity of creation, you must follow the commandments of yore etched into the sacred texts of the GM DOCUMENT

Anyways, there are a bunch of rules that the document states must be a vital integration of a quest. However, many of them are contradicted by at least one quest. The most glaring example is used.

Below, I have the rules and the offending quests, and under each rule will be its respective amendment.

Don’t make any mazes. Ever. Those are the devils. No seriously. Ever. - Heart of Llevigar (Invisible maze)
Amendment: Try not to include mazes in quests that you may make. If you must do so for canonical reasons, keep its difficulty as low as possible.

Always act like the player is a 5 years old. The player isn’t in your head, and it’s always very easy to confuse them. Make everything as easy and obvious as possible. - ??? (Every. Single. Part.)
Amendment: With the exception of community event quests designed to require a large search effort, (insert original rule here)

Do not use command blocks, as they will not work in the game servers. - Memory Paranoia (Majority of it is armor stand cutscenes)
Amendment: Refrain from using command blocks. That is the job of the CMD team.

The NPCs are never active. They do not participate in quests, they give them. - The Envoy [I and II] (Maxie)
Amendment: Unless you understand how the NPC system works inside and out, NPCs in your quest will not participate. Even if you do have a full understanding of the system, obtain permission from Salted.

Keep the player silent during quests, only the NPCs can talk. - Hollow Sirene (Thwan Yahya)
Amendment: The player can answer questions, but you must not use dialogue to do so. Rather, you should use the response of the NPC as an assumption of the player's answer.

Do not use creepers, as they are mythical creatures. - Creeper Infiltration (Obviously)
Amendment: Unless it's canonically sound and approved by Salted, do not use creepers in your quest.

Do not make incredibly long quests. It can get really frustrating to be doing a long-ass quest for hours, people like to feel like they accomplished something. - Temple of Legends (Do I really need to explain?)
Amendment: Do not make incredibly long quests, unless the reason for its length is supported by lore. The reward for the quest must be directly proportional to its difficulty (for example, in ToL you get access to the Bob's Mythic Weapon shop).

Don’t use mana regen or mana steal for IDs - Too many to list
Amendment: Unless Selvut approves your item, do not use any mana-related ids in items.

(If this has been suggested before tell me; the only thing revealed from a search of "GM Document" was a dead article about the various wonderful types of trees in Wynncraft [I'm not joking])

 

Do you have any idea how outdated this is? We just haven't publicly released the updated guidelines.
