    -1531 but ok then define "less arbitrary". "has more interesting properties"? You can't say "it's less arbitrary because it's the only number for which 2x = x, because then you can say things like "sixteen is less arbitrary because it's the only number for which √x = x/4", and now all of a sudden arbitrary numbers don't exist because every number has some funny quality

    0 is balance. It is the center of all possible numbers. It is neither positive nor negative, and it is the most stable number. Entropy leads to 0.

    why is a system where 0 is "the least arbitrary number" any more valid than one where -3000 is

    0 is the default. Unless you've gained or lost apples, you have 0 apples. What makes -3000 not arbitrary?
    The system where 0 is the least arbitrary number is more valid because it's used by everyone who does math.

    -1534 and what makes our world - the real, physical world - more or less arbitrary in terms of mathematics?
    "It's used by everyone who does math" - that's LITERALLY personal whim!
    Also, why does whether or not a number is arbitrary matter for whether or not you should strive to achieve it
