Generic Fantasy - [5/7]

You find an older looking man with a suit and monocle intensely gazing at the nearby guards for some reason.
Old Man: "Most of the magic institutions in the city are clustered by the soutwest wall. Say, would you have any idea of the reason for the sudden increase of guards? I've heard of some unrest in the Riverthrone to the east, but this amount is absolutely preposterous. There's a guard every 10 feet!"

Yes, although it looks like it would be a tight squeeze.

"Robert... that's up to 19,927 then. Welcome to Kyuvaar."
He opens up the gate, and inside you're met with a large, broad road. To your left lie docks large enough by themselves to build a small town on top of, and to your right massive shipping company headquarters. The buildings on the right just keep going higher and higher, getting more and more luxurious as they go.

 

Dez:"I heard that Riverthrone got fully destroyed by someone or something, thats probably the reason for why there are so many guards here. Anyways thank you for the information." If the man doesn't ask anything else I stard heading to the southwest wall

 

I peek down it.

 

"Amethyst? I've never heard of such rock before. Elves don't use that much purple because of it's rarity around our forest. Now, where do you suppose we are?"

 

He simply stands there, frozen in place. It's only about a minute later block away that you hear a massive scream, a shrill screech of disbelief.

Eh... he'll be fine.

The roads of this city have absolutely no rhyme or reason whatsoever, seemingly designed to make you the most furious they possibly can. Despite this, you do your best to keep going southwest, and the surrounding buildings slowly get older and more archaic. The roads themselves get thinner and even windier, and you're noticing much more vegetation than you'd expect in a city. The major outstanding feature of this section of the city appears to be a large and ancient castle, with a section of the already old looking city wall being built off of it. You're still a fair ways from it, but it's huge, though not as huge as the one you saw being built near the center.

There's a ladder hanging down out of the hatch, leading into inky darkness that you cannot see through. Somewhere, far down, you can hear running water.

"Unless we've teleported out and into a different river, we should be winding through the lower, northern peaks of the wall right now. If I am remembering right, there's a port at its mouth, but we are probably not reaching there until tomorrow morning at least. If the port even exists, that is."

 

I go closer to the castle like a tourist

 

I throw my grappling hook down, holding on to the rope end.

 

I exit the bath, eat a cookie and go rest in bed.

It takes about 20 minutes, as the city gets older and older around you. You begin noticing a lot more towers and magic areas, and everyone around you is clearly a mage of some sort at this point. Soon enough, you're standing at the front gate of the castle, and next to you lies a rather uncomfortably large sign.

ACADEMY OF THE ARCANE: KYUVAAR HEADQUARTERS

It falls for about a second before it splashes down into the water. The current clearly isn't very strong, and it's producing almost no force on the rope you're holding.

At last. Peace, rest, relaxa-
There's a knock at your room door.

 

Dez thinking:"Someone here would probably know about the pendant" I put on the pendant and go in

 

Is there anything I could hitch it on to up here?

 

"I see. In that case, we should make the edge of the Bloodwood in a fortnight. Hopefully we can find this treasure yet."

 

I try to ingn-
Eradius: "Fuck it."
I go open the door.

 

Entering the castle, you're greeted with a large directory sign. Behind it, you see large amounts of people, young and old, running down a crisscross of halls that all open up into this one large room. Many have so many stacks of scrolls, books, and various items that it's a miracle they can still see.

This street is behind quite a few houses, and there's a nearby backyard fence that looks rather sturdy.

"As for getting out of this boat, I know for a fact that there is a small mountain town that we should be reaching by midday. Probably does not have much in terms of supplies, but if you want to stretch your legs a bit.."

On the other side of it are two people. One of them, presumably the older of the two, is in a strange chair with wheels attached. Despite this, they have a cane at his lap. Their face is covered with an odd mask, one that seems to be made of wood. In fact, now that you look at them, you can't actually see a single square inch of their skin, with the gloves and massive robes they're wearing.
Gee, that's not suspicious at all.

The other one is a gruff, middle-aged looking man in plate armor without a helmet. He has two impractically large swords at his waist, and appears to be pushing the first man around.

Man: "'Ello there. My client 'ere is looking for someone, and thinks that you might know 'em. Can we come in?"

 

I go up to someone who looks the least busy and say
Dez:"Excuse me, but this seems to be a place where everyone knows alot about magic. Is there someone here that could tell me about some magic items that I own?"

 

I hitch my grappling hook to it and climb down the hook into the sewer.

 

"Who are you looking for exactly?"

 

He speaks incredibly fast, and looks like he barely has enough time to breathe.
"SecondFloorTurnRight13thDoorOnTheLeftBye."

At this point, pretty much all you have to rely on is your hearing.
You drop down into a sewer platform next to the running water, some 30 feet down from the hatch.

The disabled guy begins speaking. he clearly has difficulty, and his voice is what most would call horrifically mangled.
"A certain lizardman, actually. Violinist, mage, et cetera. I was told that the last time he was seen was in this building."
