Generic Fantasy - [5/7]

I reach my hand forward to greet the man with no manners.
Eradius: "Eradius. Nice to meet you."

 

Btw what direction was the caravan of 5 wagons heading?

 

Man: "You thought of a precise six digit code in your head? Lucky bastard. Seriously though, who are you and why has she not killed you yet?"

Herbalist: "25, at the least."

Ice Mage: "So. We're doing this now. I guess it's nice to see you again, 'old friend'."

North, away from the town.

 

Dez:"As I said I'm a travelling violinist and Fayuma noticed that I'm skilled and pretty much forced me to join"

 

Thorston: "Sure."

 

I recall that the king mentioned how this was the final location on the Windy River and how adventurers used the river to get here. I wonder if I could follow the river west to get to Kyuuvar.

I'll go west, following the Windy River, and see where it takes me.

 

Eradius: "Huh?"

 

and thus ended the winter break schedule that wasn't really what it was because i was dead for half of it

Man: "I think the depressing fact is that I can't say I didn't expect this."

Herbalist: "Righty then, here you go. Have a nice day, and- what's that?"

The man looks out the window to the street behind you. In the short time that you were in here, soldiers began flooding the street. They're standing on every street corner, near every alley, each of them with a weird looking spear. Really, the top is a semicircle. It looks more like a shovel.

You begin walking towards the river, making a clear effort to swing far to the west side of the ruined riverthrone. The lord's mansion doesn't hold a candle to the devastation of the rest of the place. The last of the looters are abandoning it, leaving only embers and a massive battle near where the tavern used to be. What forces are fighting there you do not know, but it constantly creates massive explosions.
A large group of people were evacuating through a pass in the western foothills, but there are a lot of soldiers that look to be clogging it up soon. Maybe as a lucky break, you see a small sailboat, maybe 15 feet long, moored on the shore. It's been pretty horrifically looted, but maybe it can still float?

Ice Mage: "That was my attempt at a threat. Let me spell this out for you, then. You're dressed in the clothing of one of our elemental mages, but I've never seen you before in the 27 years I've been here. And we do not hire on a whim like those mercenaries there, so I need to know who you are. Do you get the gist of what I'm saying, then? Please tell me you do."

 

Well! I figure that I'll just roll with this. I get on the boat and sail to Kyuuvar.

 

Dez:"Ok I'll notify Fayuma that I guessed the password"
I look at Fayuma and say
Dez:"Ok I guessed the password and am talking to someone what now?"

 

I watch the events outside from the herbalist's shop.

 

Eradius: "Well, I'm here to help you get to heaven and kill the gods, or whatever the hell you are doing. I'm wearing this so nobody tries to kill me, as I posses knowledge that would benefit your cause greatly."

You push the boat into the watter and hop into it, ready to-

She doesn't even hear you. She's gone to the other side of the room and is talking with one of the others.

While some of the soldiers remain at street corners and such, the majority depart out the gates, which are conveniently within sight of the store. More soldiers keep coming in from the interior of the city, such that it makes a near-constant stream of them.

Ice Mage: "That plan? Some bastards destroyed it. There's nowhere for me to go, now, because of it. These guys are off to do some political stabilizing or such, and good luck to them, but I don't want to get sucked into this damn empire's machinations. Hear there are some nice and cushy scholar positions down south though, so that's where I'm headed. It was Yalor who was always overzealous about the whole deitycide thing, even before he ended up archmage."

 

I keep watching.

 

I go up to her and repeat what I said

 

Eradius: "Yeah. You're pretty smart for not wanting to do anything with the empire, I can say from experience that they can fuck everything up for you. Still, you're pretty powerful mage. We could both benefit from eachother."
Next part I say very quietly.
Eradius: "You see, I posses a scroll which could allow us to ascend to godhood. We just need a good energy source."

I move my way over towards the two men talking.

"Excuse me, but neither of you would happen to know healing magic, would you?"

 

People slowly begin moving out of the streets, entering random storefronts and going down side roads. It feels like nobody wants to be outside.
Herbalist: "Emperor's men. What in Eliar's name are they doing now?"

She just blankly stares at you for a few seconds.
Fayuma: "Puttin' aside the alarmingly high chance ye killed the boss, that's some good news. Tell the man on the other end that we're packin' up 'ere and fixing the leadership problem in the area before we head north."

Ice Mage: "What kind of energy are we talking about here?"

You backtrack from The forest to where the men were, but there's only one left, and that's only because he's a corpse. There's a wagon nearby, however, with a horse that hasn't run off yet for some reason.

 

"Gods, I need to get out of here."

I run up to the horse and detach it from the wagon, and begin to mount the beast.

"Onwards, to... anywhere that isn't here!"

 

I say to the man
Dez:"So Fayuma tells me that we're packing up and something about fixing leadership problems before we head north"
After I alert Fayuma that I've informed the man
