Generic Fantasy - [5/7]

Eradius: "Dammit. I could have asked for more money of off him."
I head to my room.

 

I have had enough CSST to last precisely 17.3 lifetimes

You hear a thunder of footsteps outside the door. 20 people, at the very least.

Lord: "You may rise. The good news is that I have a rather spectacular demise in mind for myself. You should leave, immediately, if you don't want to be caught up in it. Do you see that large window to my left? It's not that long a fall, and property damage isn't exactly going to be a problem. Now quickly, go!"

You follow the bartender outside.

Bartender: "Well. I've gone out, so I guess I should go back i- wait. why am I out here?!? That old man did he... DID HE..."
The bartender is seething with rage.
"You! The lizard! Did you have anything to do with this?"

You climb the stairs. You're about to head to your room with a good drink before you notice some giant mouse-person creeping about.

You sneak towards the door. Getting a better look under the frame, it appears to be somebody holding a large bag of money. They have just finished counting it, and are sitting at a table and -
Someone's come up the stairs and seen you.

Vesuia: "Very much. Are you going to leave this to somebody else? What's our next move?"

 

(Does that mean I'm Lord of the Riverthrone now? By blessing I meant passing on the leadership of the city.)

I give a salute to the Lord, grab Robert, and jump through the left window.

 

Eradius: "Psh. This place is so filthy that there are giant rats crawling around."

 

Hm? I'd say there would have to be papers and decrees and all that, and that might be a problem in 3... 2.... 1....

*BOOM*

You fall ~7 feet. The entire manor bursts in an explosion of catastrophic size. Chunks of it manage to fly as far as the river. There's a small crevice in the side of the hill, and you and Robert escape pretty much unscathed.

 

(Well now there's no lord, unless he survived. I really wanted to be Lord lol)

Leon: "It's impossible that citizens didn't hear that. We should leave."

I begin towards the fields.

 

Dez:"calm down I just wanted to talk in private, all were going to do is talk."

I stand infront of the entrance blocking it and if he relaxes a bit I'll charm him if he doesn't I won't

 

I follow.

 

Thorston: "Technically, I'm a mousefolk, not a giant rat."

 

Lazarus: "Who else is there is leave it to? We should rest for a minute or two so that I can fight better, then continue."

 

Eradius: "Woah. Now the vermin speaks! I'm either drunk or I'm having a really bad day."

 

Thorston: "Probably both."

 

Eradius: "You tell me! Three poerfull mages had tried to kill me today; emphasis on tried."

 

Thorston: "Huh."

 

I'm adding a spell list to the magic system section just to set in stone some spells. The actual list, of course, won't be appearing until I'm done, but it's coming.

The sun has set now, and darkness blankets the fields north of the town. The burning remains of the manor are still visible from here. Hope he managed to take down a good amount of cultists with him. That fire and the lights still on in the city are the only ones you can see, the rest of the valley bathed in the pale light of the moon.

 

I have a vision. I see the city bursting into fire and both the manor and the city are ash and flame. The landscape turns into nothingness with many stars scattered everywhere. The city and the manor remain burning and become balls of magma. The scene zooms out and the eyeballs of magma become eyes with dark pupils. A hood of stars forms around them and a black hole forms a mouth. The newly formed face laughs and disintegrates.

I come to my senses.

Leon: "The Lord has fallen. All hope is lost unless we can find it. We must not sit around, this is a mistake. Let us take action, we must stop whatever evil the cult is concocting. I will not falter. The stars will shine through darkness."

I begin towards the city.

 

How drunk am I?

 

Pretty damn drunk.
Not drunk enough to be incoherent, but certainly drunk enough to believe you're hallucinating a giant mousefolk.

 

I follow.
