Generic Fantasy - [5/7]

I begin writing along the way:

"Excuse the mess back there."

 

OOC:how do the spellbooks work? Do I just read the book and learn the spell and can cast it out of my violin or do I have to keep the book to cast the spell?

Dez:"Sounds good what are the spells in the spellbooks I can afford?"

 

Eradius:"Son of a bitch..."
I inspect the first floor.

 

"(quietly) Leon, I'll be needing that rapier now."

I look into his bag and try to take it.

Also, I follow Leon and Robert.

 

I hand it to Thorston.

 

I stow my broken shortsword and try holding it, and maybe giving it a few test swings.

 

The spellbook doesn't have any magical properties - it's literally a guide on how to cast the spell. Read it, remember it, blast it out your violin.

Sbelseh: "My cheapest spells are Shield, Gust, and Basic Illusion."

It's a while before you can get up, but you eventually force yourself on your feet. The first floor is a long circular hallway with rooms on the in and outside. On the other side of the floor lies another giant door, but this one is already open and appears to lead outside. There are more rooms and studies, but they seem to have been abandoned for a very long time.

The rapier is really, really, cold. You try to swing it around a bit, but the balance is really, really terrible. It'll work, though. It's still usable. Barely.

 

"Huh... When we get back to town, I'll need to buy something better."

 

I go outside.

 

Well let's get started.

 

I begin writing:
"Hand it back if you don't need it, my bag can hold it."

I'm walking back to the surface.

 

I follow.

 

"It's better than a broken mess..."

I follow.

 

You slowly walk your way out through the open door. You're feeling a bit better now, but every part of you is still bruised or bloody. From where you're standing, you can see a town some half mile off in the distance, curled around a river. Past the river lies a gigantic mountain range, going to the left and right as far as you can see. to Your left, a forest closes in on the mountains, almost hugging them. To your right, a small branch of the mountain range dominates the scene.

You're standing like this for a bit before you hear the sounds of footsteps behind you. The witch-bitch (Serelia) and the wood mage (Okrgrath) are standing there. They're both injured, but they, unlike you, can still fight to some extent.

Serelia: "Did you think that such weak mind control could last very long?"
Her eyes radiate pure anger.

You pull on a cord under the statue, re-opening the leave the clearing, heading down the path back into the thick of the woods. It's about 10 seconds before all of you feel the overwhelming negative force. A wolf-like abomination limps out of the trees. Its eyes are a solid bloodshot red. The monster leaps at Robert.

 

Dez:"I'll take the book for basic illusion how much is it?"

 

I jab it with my mace.

btw I'm slightly surprised no one is questioning Leon talking in the cultist's lair.

 

ERadius: "Did you come back for something-something after I gave you that kiss? You know you liked it."

 

I dodge. Then following Leon's jab towards it, I hook it with my Air Spear/Scythe to toss it away. I use War Scream to blow it away in hopes of intimidating it.

 

Sbelseh: "8 Gold Coins, it'll be."

I'm just going to assume it's Jaded Adventurer Syndrome (JAS). then again, you've technically existed for less than a day... but you already have a bunch of general knowledge and basic history and Eradius has notes that he took learning magic... eh. plot holes.

After being hit with the mace, the wolf-creature spills way too much blood, but almost instantly regenerates its horrifically mutated flesh. However, it's then caught by the air spear and a war scream, blasting it into the trees in a shower of more blood. The monster regenerates, however, and limps back out of the forest.

Serelia: "I am going to kill you. PERSONALLY."

 

Dez:"deal I'll take it"

After I buy the book I'll read it and go looking for work
