Website & Forums Gen. Suggestions Form

A while ago we got a guide and a form for Bug Reports section. My idea is to create something similar that will help create better suggestion.

EDIT: There could be "Drafts" subsection, which would be for raw ideas that doesn't meet standarts of normal suggestions. There other players could help the posters create details or tell them that it isn't good idea

The first page can be pretty much copy of this thread (I am sure that not many people paid attention to it or even read it).

EDIT:
* You will have to choose a category. Depending on which you choose, you will get different forms
** Choose one: World, Guilds, Dungeons, Pets and Horses, Websute and forums, Game Mechanics, Quests, Classes, Professions, Other
** Possibly add a description for each so they choose the correct one

The second part would be a form with these questions for most of the suggestions:
* What it is
* Why would you want it in-game
* How does would it work (details)
* How it would fit into the game
* Other information

EDIT: After you get x message (preferably high) you can decide to not to use the temple, but it will still be the default choice

Seems a bit strange to have mandatory questions regarding the game when the section is also used for suggestions for the forums, discord and website. Other than that, good idea

 

Maybe you will choose the category on the first page and you will get different form for different choices?

There should also be an "Other" category if the suggestion doesn't fit in one of those.

General suggestions is my favourite subforum and as much as I like having the freedom to write whatever I want I still think it would be cool to have this. I also think it would make the CT take the suggestions more seriously and increase the likelihood that your god-tier suggestion makes it into the game.

 

If you know what you are suggesting it wouldn't restrict you in any way, but for newbies and other people it would force them to think a little bit more about it

 

True, but maybe add an ''extra information'' section so that way you can explain content that wouldn't fit into any of the other sections.

Sure I like, make sure to edit as you get suggestions/come up with new ideas. But I think this could help a lot so we don't get any.... You know.

Aw, but I love reading through yet another poorly written, yet sentence long suggestion that they a new class that changes based on what elements you use and the phase of the moon.

Maybe add an option to not use the template (maybe only if the user has x number of posts or something), with the template as the default option. It would still help newer users to think through what they're writing, but it would also allow people who know what they're doing the freedom to make really creative and funny suggestions without a default format getting in the way.

That would be a good idea, but not really the same. I've seen some wonderful suggestions with a weird and unique format, and I'd hate to see those go away, but at the same time I've gotten sick of the incoherent sentence fragments demanding something with no thought behind it, so I would like to have some sort of default format.

 

you could still create suggestions without template (if you meet the conditions).

the draft section is for players that have ideas and don't know the details or if it could be good etc. Other players could help them develop the idea or tell them that it wouldn't be a good suggestion

My personal opinion on this matter is that: requiring new players (and veterans too, I guess) to use a form in order to post (unless you're active enough) might force new players away. A lot of you made good points that a form takes away the freedom of what a general suggestions is.

The primary reason why I designed the bug report format in the way that I did for QA was because many people would say stuff like "I got a bug please help" and wouldn't list their IGN, their world, nor their content they were playing. That is important information for bug reporting.

To be frank, some of the best suggestions which I have read are short, sweet, and often written by a brand new player. That's not saying any of the suggestions whoever reading this made are are not good. As long as the basic idea is identified, we can understand the suggestion.

General suggestions was not a forum created so the veteran community can shit on new players for making a suggestion. There are ways to give feedback without making the person who wrote it feel bad. Besides, if the veteran community is shitting on new players for something they wrote, I wouldn't be surprised that this is somewhat affecting our new player retention.
