Gavel Texture Pack.

It's just a resource pack that only changes block models, item models, and textures to apply to those item and block models. Everything else that is texture-wise or model-wise will not be changed from your client, meaning you can peacefully play with Faithful 32x32 for your blocks and such, and have that extra 3D model stuff going on for your weapons.

 

I know but some resource packs lag other people and me

 

yeah that's also another case, although at first i thought you were like those people that recommended to turn off the armor layer when armor skins came out, sorry about that, but now i see you are part of the bunch who would also be affected in the case of a mandatory texture pack that changes everything

just wondering, are you part of the team that is doing the texture pack? because it would be awesome if we can know for real what is going to happen

yes, but even if they can't find out if someone has downloaded the texture pack that doesn't mean you should do it, unless you have permission from the people who made it of course, it's the same as with the map

I'm working on a alongside @Portalcrafter and @pale1, but I know enough about resource packs to tell you what I said.

From what I know, just wait till Gavel comes out to see the awesome resource pack.

To anyone in charge of the pack currently:

I like the work y'all have done on models, but please, for the love of god, don't forget that this is a resource pack.

There's more to consider than just weapons.
You also have blocks, and items, and pretty much everything else.

Please don't make me regret my faith in you guys.

 

You can always apply a resource pack over the server one.

 

This pack is special. It's made to force it on you.
You will be required to use it in order to play the game.

 

But applying a resource pack after the server forces it to you, overwrites the server one.

 

it's literally an obligatory rp, something that you MUST use in order to play the game or at least feel what the game wants you to feel (imagine a stair has been turned into a statue and you just change the resource pack and it goes back to being a stair), if you thought about merging both it would just change the blocks (vanilla mc ones) that haven't been changed in the server rp as far as i know ( again, hopefully they don't mess with blocks, at least not all of them.....) so in case there are some really ugly blocks ( like really fucking ugly) you won't be able to change how they look unless you have the resource pack files and replace it with another rp textures you like

 

That's stubborn when you do not even know the look of the texture pack! The texture pack is MADE for Wynncraft so you SHOULD use it. I am very disappointed to hear you say this after all their hard wormk!!!

This is something I need to address.
Everyone here, we all have our own opinions.
Whether it be what movies are the best, or what fruits are better.
So by guilting others into accepting what they're not 100% into, that's just cruel.
Some people like Faithful, some people like Sphax, some people like oCD.
And usually, we don't like it when we're restricted to anything else.
It's human nature.
And sure, he may not know much about the official pack, but let's face it, none of us do.
Not even you, or me.

Besides, what about us pack creators?
The other people who've made packs for Wynncraft?
By the way, we exist.
We worked on our own packs.
I worked on my own pack for two years, probably even more.
So by that logic, since the official pack is going to be a thing soon, all other packs are garbage, and we should be ashamed for taking away the attention from another person's "hard" work?

That logic cuts deep.

Deeper than my utter hatred for 3D modeling.

That logic isn't good for much. Then again, I'm not saying the Wynn Pack is bad. People have opinions. And if your opinion is you like the Wynn Pack, that's fine, but people have preferences and disagree.

 

I'd say at least give the resource pack a chance before you complain about it being mandatory.

If you watch the teaser trailer, the RP does change blocks, they look pretty good to me.

Sure, we should wait before making a final judgement, but some of us are not very impressed by the current content.

In any case, people are entitled to their own opinions; just because you SHOULD do something doesn't mean you have to. Personally, I prefer my HD Texture Packs over most other server-provided texture packs, simply because they look better. Now, although it isn't completely out yet, that doesn't mean people can't have their own preferences! Say if a brand new phone were to be released ( iPhone 6 ), and I'd like to continue using my iPhone 5c. Following your logic, I should immediately spend the money to go buy the iPhone 6, because it was MADE as an upgrade to the 5C, therefore I SHOULD use it.

See the problem here? People have choices; that's what makes us (in some ways) more mentally advanced than other species of animals (although this doesn't apply to everybody, sadly. Some people at my school seem unable to evolve past the mental capacity of an amoeba). Just because somebody prefers to do something a certain way (or use a certain texture pack for a certain server) that differs from the way it's supposed to be done does NOT give you the right to bash them and criticize their choices.

 

First of all do not be a smart alec when I make a mistake with spelling becuase the my keyboard. That is rude. For another thing Gavel was made to use the texture pack. Everything would be out of place if it was not using the texture pack. Gavel is the Person and the texture pack is the phone. The Gavel texture pack is a Phone MADE for the person. If the person chooses another phone it won't fit ass well.

I find it annoying how you pick on such small and little things in Grammar to make yourself seem smart and above everyone else. I also love how you immitate me becuase that is very nice of you. Stop being such a snob and brighten up.

 

Fair enough; I'll admit I was being rude.

Then again, so is being disappointed in someone else just because they have a specific preference, and I get fairly offended when I see people publicly denouncing another simply based on their likes and dislikes. Does it ever say you are required to use the texture pack? No. As for the example with the phone; let's go to a fairly recent case involving them, shall we?

Not too long ago, there was a lawsuit involving the legality of jailbreaking an iPhone in order to put custom software, custom themes, and such. Guess who won that lawsuit, Apple, or the defendant? The defendant did, actually, and jailbreaking was considered legal (although it does void the warranty). From your logic, since the standard iOS is built for the iPhone, iPhone users should only use iOS on their phones because iOS was specifically designed for it.

But what if there's limitations of iOS? There used to be a critical bug in iOS that when it received a certain string of characters (search "effective power"), it would cause it to crash, and render Messages unusable. For a while, Apple released no fix (it takes time, you know), but for jailbroken devices, there was a fix for the bug. Now, let us use the texture pack as an example. Are you saying, that if the texture pack had some sort of issue that made it very difficult to play (such as colorblindness, or maybe because they just don't like the pack), they shouldn't be allowed to play the Gavel expansion pack at all?
Furthermore, let's say there's an add-on available for jailbroken iPhones that makes it much easier to use (such as iFile and Safari File Downloader + Media Importer), or maybe customized icons and themes. Are you saying, because the iPhone doesn't support a method of doing something, that action should be impossible?

That's a little sad; the original motto for Wynn was that it required NO MODIFICATIONS to play; any sort of modifications were optional and only there to increase the experience. Unless there's been a drastic change in the content and staff teams that I somehow missed (which is highly unlikely), I believe that still to be the case.

I would like to apologize for being pretentious and correcting all of your mistakes, and if you'd like to continue this discussion, do send me a PM, as I think it'd be best not to derail this topic any further. But, then again, please do keep in mind that everybody is entitled to their own choices (we are not perfect; you cannot expect everyone to do something a certain way. That just isn't how humans work.), and also, please do not denounce somebody just because of the way that they think or the things that they prefer over others; as I mentioned before, I severely dislike that kind of behavior. It just doesn't sit well with me.
