I really hate having threads closed or deleted unless they 100% need to. What if someone looks at them later and has something worth while to say but can't cuz its locked? Or in the case of deletion, not see the thread at all!

 

If the thread hasn't been replied to in a month, then most likely the thread has died and been forgotten.

 

As said above, if nothing's been said in over a month, there's no need to continue the discussion on the thread.

We find A and make thread on it because it fits with B.

A month later someone finds C which fits with A and B

They don't wana make a new thread on it cuz a thread on A already exists

But they can't comment cuz the thread is locked

(And this starts to lead to why we have so many threads on the same topic)

 

Why is A existing going to conflict with making C. C =/= A.

 

Cuz the finding of C is an extension of what has been going on with A

 

I rest my case, this thread may continue to exist unlocked.

 

So make a thread on C and expand it into it's on thread. Or, just make a new thread with A and C.

Well, I guess this thread can continue to exist if it's still somewhat related to the topic. As long as people talk about the original purpose of the thread, and not whether it should be locked or not.

Because this is called a forum because it's public, and one person is just as powerful as another. One person trying to tell someone not to do something will usually result in it happening because this is the Internet. The thread 'owner' merely hit some keys. Why should they be more powerful than another? This thread isn't even unique content in the primary content drain, which is why it's not really creating something.

 

Well as the owner he does get some rights such as bumping the thread and requesting a close on the thread. Other players can try to do things, but only when appropriate which is defined by the staff. Both of you guys exercised your rights. SPYROHAWK didn't want the thread to be closed so he didn't request it and Yuno decided that there was reason for the necropost to be considered one, but the staff deemed it unnecessary for this thread to be locked.

 

Anybody can do either one of those within reason, but thanks for making my argument stronger.

 

No like right now SPYROHAWK can request a lock on this thread and it will be done. Can you do that this instance? Also, lets say the last 3 posts was SPYROHAWK saying "BUMPING!" This is acceptable on the forums. If the last 3 post was YOU saying "BUMPING!" this may be considered spam or post farming and at the very least there will be person saying:
"BUMPING"
"BUMPING!"
"BUMPING!!"

Thread owners definitely have more power over regular commenters. It may not be much, but it's there.

 

but I can request a thread lock on a thread that isn't mine...
it wont be taken as seriously tho
