    DISCLAIMER:

I am not a member of WynnCraft's staff team. I do not pretend to be in WynnCraft's staff team. I'm just stating what's obvious that some of you may already know - this thread is for those who don't, continuously asking the same questions over and over. You can read the first thread I've made here.

Wynn's Application Program Interface (better known by us commoners as API) is, quoting Wikipedia verbatim, "a computing interface which defines interactions between multiple software intermediaries. It defines the kinds of calls or requests that can be made, how to make them, the data formats that should be used, the conventions to follow, etc. It can also provide extension mechanisms so that users can extend existing functionality in various ways and to varying degrees". You can find more about the API here. (thread by colin350, an Admin)

Currently, the API is up but is not serving player stats, so some problems are occurring in numerous aspects of WynnCraft. Worth noting that API being down doesn't directly affect the game, the game continues its business as usual. All issues caused by API are related to services connected to the game (like WynnCraft's Stats page), rather than the game itself.

EDIT (because I skimmed over something): Moto-bot until recently was affected by the API downtime as well. Moto-bot also uses the Wynncraft Public API, and while the API was down, it could not display server info (>up). This has since been resolved!

EDIT 2: As @btdmaster pointed out, the Wynn API is currently up, but is not serving player stats information.

In no particular order, the following services are affected by API downtime:
    • WynnCraft World Map
    • WynnCraft Stats Page
    • WynnCraft Forums
    • WynnCraft Discord Server
Q: I can't see myself on the map!
A: It's okay, no one can. Because the API is not serving the information (and such, no calls are made regarding player locations), you can't see yourself or anyone in your friends list/guild on the map.

Q: My rank on the forums/Discord server has not been updated, even though I bought *insert rank here*!
A: In layman's terms, because the API is not responding, it cannot make calls to the Forums, which in turn makes a call to the Discord server, to update your rank on these services.
API handles the integration between the game and Forums (and, by extension, the Discord server). If you buy a rank on WynnCraft Store, under usual circumstances, it would also show up on the Forums, as the API updates the player's stats to reflect the in-game changes. The game makes calls to the API, which in turn allows the API to update the stats on the WynnCraft's Stats page. Except, it is not responding, so API cannot receive calls from the game, and thus, cannot update your Forum rank. This explanation also applies for the next question.

Q: I've reached a higher Combat Level/*insert profession here* Level, but it isn't showing up on the stats page!
A: API downtime/problems cause the stats to not properly reflect on the Stats page of the WynnCraft website. Read the above spoiler for detailed explanation.

Q: Will API downtime affect the WynnCraft Store?
A: API downtime affects the reflection of your In-game rank on Discord and Forums, not the rank or purchases themselves. If you have billing issues, contact WynnCraft's Support instead by sending them a mail - API downtime/problems are unrelated to billing problems.

Q: How can I get my in-game rank reflected on the Forums and Discord if the API is still down?
A: On Discord, contact a Moderator (they have shiny orange names) with proof of your In-game rank. Note that not all moderators are available. Absolutely avoid pinging the "Moderator" role. On Forums, on the other hand... no idea. Wait until the API is back up again.

If you have more questions about the API, I'll try my best to answer them within my knowledge.

Actually, everything is currently up and serving updated information besides player stats as far as I know- (although player stats is the most used probably, so that's why it seems like it)

Thanks for explaining this to me XD, wasn't aware of how the system works, but I suppose its my own problem I was too lazy to go search for the other threads lol

So basically, the API which handles all this stuff, gets requests but doesn't respond back to them despite being up is what you're saying?

API is currently not handling the user stats as the module(?) that handles this data is still under maintenance. Other modules are up, however.
