Wait, that surprises me... I think that's one of the first things our kids learn in school when they get to know the whole topic (the thing with the reflection and that it gets significantly warmer when something doesn't reflect). :D

Global warming is a natural cycle of the Earth, the ice age happened, Now the earth is cooling down from it. Yes climate change is a thing but so is Global warming.

no. its not. in some places, there will be warming, but in others, it may even cool down. i really hate the term "global Warming" because it has mislead many people

You messed your wording up m8. The earth is naturally warming but greenhouse gases were creating is also affecting it is what you mean to say?

Global Warming occurred before humans began the Industrial Revolution, it's a natural cycle the Earth will go through no matter what. So go believe that Global Warming isn't a thing, but it is genius.

And Accio, I don't even understand your comment, no where did I bring up Greenhouse affects on the Earth and how it's contributing to the already existing Temperature rise.

guys. over 80% of the words scientists agree that human driven climate change is very real, and even a rise of 2.5 degrees (celsius) will have disastrous affects. many islands in the pacific will be swamped causing a refugee crisis full of people who literally can't go back to their homes because they are swamped. the first climate refugees are already displaced, a third of all tuvaluans already live abroad

I respect your perspective, many people around the world would agree with you, and I can see why you would think that. However, I would have to disagree.[IMG]
Global warming is different from the greenhouse effect, which humans magnified. If you look at the graph above, you'll see that we have reached a temperature peak and should be declining in temperature. However, that is not what we are observing. Instead temperature is rising at levels way off predictions. Also, the greenhouse gases we pump into the atmosphere (bringing our CO2 levels to an all time high in the history of Earth woo new record) greatly increase average global warming. Global warming is the average raising of temperature across the globe, and many factors contribute to its effect. It significantly changes the weather patterns on Earth by adding energy to jet streams and ocean currents, increasing the strength of storms and how often storms appear. Some places will get hotter, some will get colder, some will get wetter, some will get drier. However, most places will increase in temperature leading to habitat depletion and creating unsuitable places for organisms to live. The ice caps melting will greatly raise global sea level leaving many places underwater.
You mentioned desalination plants as a way to get fresh water as we deplete our fresh water resources. However, desalination plants use a process called reverse osmosis to filter the water and it is very costly to build and operate.

Looking back a lot of those facts were quite jumbled, sorry but I didn't plan any of this out and it was all from memory.

Just to those people out there who say some thing like 'NUU ITS FAKE, It was -6 yesterday!" Global warming and Climate ARE DIFFERENT. The overall tempature is going up, and stuff is melting.

great speech mate, you got ur facts mostly right. the ice caps melting is not what causes most of sea level rising, but rather the fact that water expands when put through heat.

guys, i think you are getting what i am trying o say wrong. i am saying that humans are causing the majority of the problem, but it should be calle climate change not global warming. and Accio, why do you not care enough. this is our world, an the thing is, thinly people who are profiting from natures destruction, in the long run, are the extremely wealthy, not normal people in developed countries an certainly not people in developing countries. this is our world, and we share its future.

WE NEED NATURE, BUT NATURE DOESN'T NEED US

Tagging @Accio for you. @Accio we're not trying to gang up on you, we're just presenting reasons why climate change is real and something that we should worry about.

I completely forgot about water expansion stuff >_> good point. The ice melt from mountains and polar ice caps + water expansion will greatly raise sea level.

called ignorant! In denial! Lol lets not forget who wrote this "Right now im going to state my statement and my statement only I hope you don't get offended. SO, IMO global warming is not as bad as some scientists say it is but it certainly is real. I will agree with you the ice is melting whatever and we're running out of fresh water but I think there's ways to fix that right . De-salination plants are the water plants of the future. I mean it's just the water cycle human made! The icebergs have retreated but ever heard of the Ice Ages? The last one was about 11,700 years ago. On top of that they occur every 100,000 years. Then they last for 10,000 years and it starts to warm up. Now what I'm saying is it hasn't been 50,000 years since the last ice age so of course it should be warming up. I think some informations is exaggerated too. Do you remember elementary school? Rumors spread like crazy man and facts were DISTORTED. I mean comon you would tell your friend Billy that Sally (A girl) was good at the swings and a whole rumor would go across the school! This plays out in real life, to try to get the next generation to fix it (Global Warming) the media tell us untrue stories or exaggerate. So your friend billy is now the media, he spreads the word, and the school is the earth. I believe global warming is real, I believe our earth is changing. I believe there's still an Ice Age is sight, I Don't believe we'll die in 100 years thanks to global warming. I don't Ignore global warming. I recently started a compost bin. I recycle. I do not ignore global warming. This is all my opinion please don't be mad. IF you wish to respond do it in a civil way."

    Ever heard this?

"Satellite measurements of atmospheric temperatures do not agree, however. They began only in 1979, and have shown no significant increase (Of temperature) over the last quarter century. Balloon readings did show an abrupt, one-time increase in 1976-1977. Since then, those temperatures have stabilized."
    ________________________________
Or this "What are the facts? Surface temperature measurements show a global warming period from about 1910 to 1940, followed by a cooling period until 1975. Since then we have experienced a slight warming trend. These three periods add up to a surface-temperature increase of perhaps one-degree Fahrenheit for the entire 20th century."

The whole twentieth century one degree fahrenheit. The natural cycle of earth. The whole industrial revolution = to 1 degree...
    ________________________________
    Or this

"The surface data suggest that man-made carbon dioxide has not in fact increased global temperatures. From 1940 to 1975, coal-fired plants emitted fumes with great abandon and without restraint by Greens. Yet the Earth cooled slightly in that time. And if man-made global warming is real, atmospheric as well as surface temperatures should have increased steadily. But they haven't. There was merely that one-time increase, possibly caused by a solar anomaly. In addition, an "urban heat island effect" has been identified. Build a tarmac runway near a weather station, and the nearby temperature readings will go up."
    ________________________________
What about this, all those temps could be a FAKE "The claim that the globe is warming depends on knowing earlier temperatures. Such information can only be obtained indirectly. Climate scientists depend on tree rings, bore holes, ice cores, the skeletons of marine organisms. The graph that was most effective in persuading policy-makers became known as the hockey stick."
    ________________________________
Have you guys ever heard of a solar anomaly?

First off, good job with the compost bin. I believe many people got the impression that you believed that climate change and global warming were not big enough problems that we should worry about it.
Sorry if I came across as rude, I believe I speak for many people when I say this: We are just simply worried about humanity's future on Earth if we don't make a change.
This is a very controversial topic with many sides and angles to it. It's impossible to solve with a single solution, many areas must be addressed to make an impact, further complicating the debate on this topic.

Unfortunately, all that being said, I'd still have to disagree with your opinion. Please take a look at this link. Carbon ppm has risen by 120 since pre-industrial times, a rate unprecedented by all of our carbon records and predictions. Also, the temperature increase, while a minor 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit may seem insignificant, it is an unexpectedly large increase in temperature and we are already starting to see some effects. I do agree that data and science can often be exaggerated by the media (10% usage of brain myth which led to lot of bad movies bleh), a lot of global warming's effects are simply trying to be put in an undeniable way. A lot of the data on global warming out there is real! If we continue pumping out carbon dioxide at the rate we are, we will soon raise temperature to a point where hurricanes become common occurrences.
I know that was a jarring end but I have to go do something else.

@Accio I'm curious, what do you think we should do about global warming, if anything?
And @Accio I again apologize if I come across as rude.

What should we do? We should be cautious but im not in favor of spending BILLIOND upon BILLIONS of dollar s in favor of something that we have only what 100 years of knowledge of out of the 4.543 billion years earth has been around. Is that one second in the universe timeline gonna end the earth really? (Hehe
Neil deGrasse Tyson reference) So many facts are twisted and you guys are just FED by your school's facts that haven't even been proven yet! We literally only have 100 years of precise weather monitoring and its not even that great! We didn't even know there was a 9th planet until yesterday! Are we (the human race) gonna go on a sudden tree hugging rampage? Im certainly not. I think there's allowed to be a global effort to stop it but it's literally something I BET you half the world doesn't even know about. All those native tribes in africa? It's just hot to them, that's just the way it is. The earth is just evolving with these organism on it. And I don't believe we're not gonna die if we ignore it. There's just too many reason it couldn't be humans. That being said it OK to be cautious but heck no im not cutting me electricity use in half or using 30% less water (Cough cough california) It's like trying to predict if aliens exist there's too many reasons it's not plausible and too many reasons it is. Global Warming is simply a debate that will never be won by either parties. If you'd like to spend billions of dollars I vouch for desalination plants. If you evidence is true, we can't stop it so at least try to keep us alive. But hey it's my opinion JUST like how I don't think seaworld is viscous and hurting their whales.

no, its not about keeping us alive. human beings are unimportant, and, as species go, are very short-lived. it is about keeping other things alive, the tigers, the orang-utans, the lions, the whales and the sharks, things that have been around for much, much much longer than humans. we are a speck of insignificance, and yet we are killing everything else.

    is that really fair?
