Except nobody is even remotely as experienced as Selvut on the CT team when it comes to item creation.

 

item creation ≠ item balancing

 

Item creation = expertise with items, expertise with value of certain ids. That combined with knowledge of what's 'broken' right now should make Selvut very fit to do this job. More fit than Salted, he's the one who designed the original ones after all.

Also, you're arguing for getting more people involved. These people would have even less experience with item balancing than Selvut does...
I'm for some sort of 'QA control' by a team of bored GMs, sure, if that would satisfy you.

 

If that's really your argument, then we should have no builders either since no one is as qualified for the job as Grian is.
And you can't possibly know how good other people would be at balancing items. 1st, you have been gone for a while, which is enough not to know what's going on, 2nd, Selvut isn't a miracle maker nor a miracle himself. He is a person who got to where he is with effort. If he can get that kind of experience, so can others. To simply say others would be bad at item balancing because Selvut is better is as fair as saying you are shit at building because Grian is better.

I know that Selvut is very experienced with items.
I know that everyone is complaining about mythic balance.
I know that Selvut will be rebalancing all mythics.
Nothing else is there to know. Selvut is the only CT member who has extensive knowledge with items after all...

Do you happen to have a dozen of people laying around with nothing to do, eager to make 2k items each? No? Well that's a shame.

You can ask any builder, Grian's style is outdated. He's not that good anymore, compared to others. The CT has way, way better builders than him.

Oh, I see how it is. First you try to argue with me, try to get me to agree with your opinion, and now when I bring up points that break your argument you bring up the "We can both think what we want"-card. Tsk.

You realize there's so many positions in the world where there's a main person who makes changes, but he has a council to gather opinions and differing ideas from? GM is set the same way, there's one person overseeing overall creations and others underneath contributing their part.

You think Selvut is going to be able to balance all existing items while creating new items, designing boss altars, doing whatever the hell else he's doing in any reasonable time frame? I'm almost certain that's a hard no. Each person plays the game differently, each would bring in different viewpoints that would not have been considered, potentially leading to misuse of an item and absolutely breaking the game. That happens.

Why are you against having more people contribute to the state of balance in the game? Inexperience? It goes through the other people on the team as well as Selvut before being introduced into the game. That's the only point I've seen you bring up so far so I'll end with that.

With the time frame they get to pump out updates is say having only selvut on item balancing is fine

 

He has no reason to create new items while he's balancing old ones. He doesn't do much normal GM stuff anymore, I believe, compared to normal GMs.

As I said, having a team of bored GMs who doublecheck the items is fine, but giving other GMs access to attempting to rebalance a Mythic on their own wouldn't turn out as well as if Selvut just did it.

Yes, Inexperience is my main argument. There are other smaller ones like how classified changes to items are, as any CT member who knows an item is going to rise in value, or drop, could heavily impact the economy by abusing this knowledge.

It's not like I've seen you bring valid counterarguments for giving more people access to changing Mythics. Mythics being checked after Selvut balances them, sure. Mythics being rebalanced by inexperienced CT members? No thanks.

 

Yeah, I'm sort of an odd-jobs GM at this point. I make mobs for some areas when they need it and rebalance them, I make boss altars, and I make/rebalance items.
