However if thats the case, there will be no maximum as x represents the horizontal line AX, meaning that its increase in value will only increase the area y and never decrease it, so a maximum does not exist @SilverMirror

 

if you have did it why not post it? max min area with respect to theta makes sense, but u cannot solve it for x as x is independent to any of theta nor a

 

just take it, you deserved it, i dont even understand what the question wants at this point

 

Wt Hero tried to say is, the question is clearly not well written and misleading, both him and I have studied enough advanced maths for an entire lifetime and Hero is majoring in physics as well, both of us would have answered wt the question literally said, which is differentiate the equation in Q1. At no point did the post mentioned anything about maximise area and stuff, and after your interpretation it just seemed to us that Net is just trying to use fancy wordings to confuse and make the question look like more "advance" than a clear phrase of "find the max area", showing a lack of parsimonious.

Maybe its because of the difference in education style we've had, but usually, when the question ask you to differentiate, you differentiate, not find the area. If the question ask you to find the area, then you find the area, with or without differentiate

 

Huh. Don't know what happened here but all I asked for was to differentiate the equation with respect to theta and then make x the subject.

Remember, post full workings to fully simplified solution.
