About half a year ago, when I was bored in a university lecture, I decided to draw a small doodle to get some art practise in. Of course, I only had a pen, so there was no going back if I made a mistake.

Fast forward to five days ago, I realised I hadn't drawn for over half a month, and became paranoid my art skills would slowly begin to degrade through lack of use. Thus, I made another drawing. A redraw of that piece I had doodled half a year ago.

This was part of a series of small doodles I did during lectures I got bored in. The hardest part was the fact it was done in pen, which is why it probably looks so bad.

I find my biggest block when drawing is figuring out what to draw in the first place. I suppose revisiting & redrawing older drawings can show how much I've improved since then, though.

    Most loved part: Hands
    Most hated part: Legs

Colouring this took far too long and I abused gradients far too much, but I think it came out alright in the end. The jumper was originally planned to be greyish-black, but that clashed with both the shading and the hair, so I opted for dark purple instead.

Before I drew the larger piece on A4, I doodled a couple of concepts on notes just to get the design down and spot problems before they could occur on a larger scale. The first doodle is the leftmost one.

The colouring process probably took three days longer than it should have done, though I was arrogant and didn't want to use the bucket tool to mass-colour areas as it tends to look a bit messy.
