I latch the Dread Helm onto my face and approach the innkeeper and Alas.

Heat: (to Alas) “What’s the issue here?”

 

The bartender appears not to notice you

Wait, are you in human or tiefling form?

And the man is SUPER scared, eyes-wide, and nodes quickly

The bartender doesn't notice you, he's too focused on Alas

 

I sigh, waiting for him to get over the shock of Alas being loud.

 

Ti'Lin:"You got any idea of what the riddle could mean Alice?"
He thinks...
"I mean.. 'stone grind halt' could be seen as something different. You could see it as a grind made of stone, or as stone grinding... like a jeweler."

 

Let's do an Intelligence roll to see if Alas is smart enough to put back the Mask of Many Faces !

I back away and sit down at Ti'Lin's table.

 

Ti'Lin:"Hi. Got anything new about the riddle? I did have an idea."

 

Heat: "Nothing. I re-deployed with a knife in my arm. It had this paper held onto it."

I hand Ti'Lin the paper, which reads: "To get what belongs to you, use what belongs to me. In the place what is lost, find a stone key."

 

Ti'Lin:"Okay. I'll write it down."
He repeats the riddle and writes it down in his notebook.
"To get.. belongs to you.. belongs to me.. place what is lost.. stone key.."
He looks at his note.
"Okay, so this 'lost place' seems to be important."
He shows Heat the notes. (just the 2 riddles beneath each other.)
"See how both of the riddles contain this 'lost place'?"

 

Heat: "I see. We have lost your necklace, so perhaps the stone key is there as well? To find this place we need to use what belongs to the Magic Man. The only thing that I know belongs to him is this knife."

I pull out the knife and place it in the middle of the table.

 

That's gonna take a bit

She shrugs, and points at your necklace. " Where... where did your turn... turny thing go?"

Ti'Lin:"Seems normal to me. Did someone check if it's magical or not?"

 

I drum my fingers on the table, waiting.

 

Ti'Lin:"It is.. gone? Someone apparently took it without asking."

 

Heat: "Althiaos detected some traces of Transmutation magic. Apparently it was made by the Fabricate spell as well. I wouldn't have known any of this on my own."

 

Ti'Lin:"Oh, it doesn't seem that special then."
He tabs at the 'lost place'
"What could it be? What lost places do we know around here?"

 

EVENTUALLY the bartender comes over, still eyeing Alas

"H-hello kind sir. What can I do for you?"

 

Caligo: “Could I get a glass of water?”

 

Heat: "Well, the riddle says 'In the place what is lost' meaning that in the place of something we have lost. Once again, your necklace."

 

The man grabs some water, and gives it to you.

"Two gold."
