The plane of Negative Energy.

The three planes that are spoken of the LEAST are the Elemental Chaos, Postive Energy Plane, and Negative Energy Plane. All three are basically deadly to even come close to. In previous editions, the plane of Negative Energy was described as an empty void where nothing can survive, and as there's really no good "Void" in 5e, that's the best I can do.

And, since Vestiges are (in 5e terms) gods who have lost all followers and power and have been forgotten, or (in binder terms) the spirits of powerful dead beings, being in the plane of Negative Energy works (Negative Energy is the same energy that allows necromancy to be possible).

And before you ask, YES, the 5e DMG actually defines the term "Vestige", and it's slightly different than what the class defines Vestiges as (once again, a slight lore change that won't have any mechanical impact)

You really need to stop using poison bolts against enemies wither super high CON. Kortassa passed the poison save.

And, btw, you also add your DEX to the damage of ranged weapon damage. Does that change the damage?

Replacing "the void" with the Negative Energy Plane works. Pretty much, the souls of dead creatures without any deity willing and able to send them on to the afterlife, or those that would otherwise be destroyed, go to languish in the Negative Energy Plane without any way of reaching back to reality. How does that lore change sound?

Actually, for example, the vestige Amon is a vestige both in Binder terms and deity terms, as a forgotten god.

Alright, that's fine. Maybe change the 5E term to something else?

...Wait, what if Kinte was a Binder-based vestige? That would be cool.

Kinte is technically one, but not in the Binder sense, as he's alive

TECHNICALLY souls that don't have a god go to whatever plane fits their alignment. The Negative Energy Plane is literally just death itself, and I supposed gods could be strong enough for their souls to reside there once forgotten

And I'm not changing the 5e term. If 5e says Vestiges are forgotten gods, then a binder calls upon the souls of dead forgotten gods.

I can't group it with her, since it needs to rotate as she moves, but that should work

If Kinte dies, then he'd probably become a vestige.

With the new binder lore, even godless souls are usually claimed by a god near their alignment. Deities themselves go to the negative energy plane upon death, but many vestiges are just mortals incapable of moving on to a true afterlife. A gnomish architect fused with a city, a dragonslayer personally condemned to the void by Tiamat herself, and a betrayed lover too far into grief to break the bond and move on are some examples.

What about changing the binder term? It removes contradictions without breaking binder lore. And Binders can summon mortal souls too, as I said above, so just binding gods wouldn't work at all.

And here's the thing, there actually is a rule about people's deaths in regards to the negative energy plane. Allow me to introduce you to the Wraith and the Spectre.

Unlike ghosts, when a Spectre dies it's soul does not go to the afterlife. It's cast off into oblivion. So, what exactly is this oblivion? I would say it's the negative energy plane.

And as for Wraiths, their are created when a soul is so suffused with negative energy that it collapses in on itself in death, creating just an empty void. I would consider this also to be connected to the Plane of Negative Energy.

So perhaps not mortals incapable of moving on, but mortals who have been suffused with negative energy.

(I spent a good portion of yesterday looking up things having to do with negative energy, don't ask)

What about both being possible, and the weakest creatures are summoned as the Minor Spirit class feature of the Binder instead of as a full vestige?

 

No clue. Here's what I was thinking:

Minor Spirits are the souls of spectres and wraiths and whatnot that are connected to the Negative Energy Plane

Vestiges are the souls of dead gods and simular beings

Maybe?
