That will be interesting if @Dominus Ghaul even actually ends up PMing me about his character and ends up joining. Hes playing a good character IIRC, so distrusting him may be interesting

Woodweed
Illegal drug
Woodweed is an extremely addictive illegal drug, made from the sap of a particular type of tree. Some elven shamans use it sparingly for medical purposes, but even they only use it in the worst of cases.
Upon smoking Woodweed, if you are not already addicted, roll a D100. You have a cumulative 25% chance of becoming addicted. When you are addicted to Woodweed, whenever you have not smoked Woodweed in at least 3 hours, you cannot recover hit points during a rest or by spending hit dice, and every hour, you take 1d8 psychic damage from withdrawal. Woodweed addiction can be cured with spells like greater restoration or the treatment of a skilled healer over several months.
Whenever you smoke Woodweed, roll a d100 and add the amount of times you’ve already smoked Woodweed to the roll. Then, consult this table for results.

2 - 20:
Recover 1d4 hit points, and gain resistance to psychic damage for 10 minutes.
21 - 40:
Recover 1d4 hit points.
41 - 50:
Recover 1d4 hit points, and you lose the ability to cast any spells for 1 day.
51 - 70:
You have disadvantage on Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma checks and saves for 1 hour.
70 - 80:
You gain vulnerability to slashing, piercing, and bludgeoning damage.
80 - 90:
You take 1d4 psychic damage, and have disadvantage on Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma checks and saves for 1 hour.
90 - 99:
You take 1d6 psychic damage and are affected as the feeblemind spell for 1 hour.
100 or greater:
You take 1d8 psychic damage, have disadvantage on Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma checks and saves for 1 hour, and lose the ability to cast any spells for 1 day.

The thing about Woodweed is that you rapidly start to feel the bad effects, and by the time you realize the consequences, you're already addicted and forced to keep suffering the bad effects to avoid the withdrawal and inability to heal.

I like the addiction mechanic. This herb is much simpler. You don't get addicted, but it's still illegal. Upon smoking or chewing it, you randomly cast a cantrip.
