The crowd splits open. Legit a pathway opens up going from Heat (and Erevan, who is right next to Heat) up to the stage. The whole crowd goes silent.

 

I just smile and watch the spectacle, sitting on the edge of the rooftop.

 

I go pale in the face and fall to my knees. My holy symbol, and by extent me, begin to glow and sizzle with golden light.

 

I walk through the crowd and approach the stage.

Heat: "Let this man go."

Who are you talking to, and which man are you talking about?

 

Talking to the person with the sword, talking about the person kneeling.

 

You can't see the reaction of the man with the sword, since he is wearing a helmet. The kneeling man on the other side of the stage looks really confused.

Does @Paradoxical have anything to say about this?

Some travelers said they have heard stories of this warlord, and he's been defeated once in combat before. This was meant to be a reenactment of that to life the town's spirits.

Who are you? Why does your wood-and-metal friend think it's an execution?

Also, take a perception check to see if you can identify the people on the stage.
