as I approach the town.

 

Heat: “Not that I see.”

Perception check to see if anything seems odd about the place?

You approach the city, and the watchtowers seem deserted. As Heat said, there's no one in sight. Not a single living person anywhere nearby, save for your friends.

But you are slightly more perceptive than the living hunk of wood and metal. There are signs of life. Footprints in the dirt. Smoke rising from a few of the houses in the town. But yet... You still see no one.

 

Caligo: "Heat, yeah? Follow me."
I start to head deeper into the town.

 

Sure.

I mean, I'd be slightly irritated if you came across a town with no one in it and WEREN'T curious about it.

 

I'll enter the town.

Kyelas: "Hello? Anyone?"

As you venture further into the town, you realize it's not as dead as you thought. There are wagons on the side of the streets, although once again with no one near them. Footprints become very common, almost all of them leading south. Plants still grow in the windows of the empty houses. Candels still burn in the houses.

I stealthily head up to one of the doors of the houses with smoke coming out of the roofs, listening against the door.

 

Kyelas: "It's a ghost town... Perhaps people are in the houses, hiding from the undead."

 

You hear the quiet crackling of embers. A fire must have been in the fireplaces recently but had been put out. Other than that, nothing but the wind.

 

I knock on the door and wait for a bit. If there's no response, I follow the footprints.

 

There's no response. The footprints lead south.

 

I cautiously follow the south-bound footprints, preparing to encounter anything living.

 

And here's the other reason I smirked when you said you don't like crowds.

You follow the footsteps south, and you begin to hear noises. Voices, music, etc. You go faster towards the source of the sound until you walk face-first into a person wearing colorful clothing. You are very shocked for a moment. It's a person! But then you look around.

It's a GIANT crowd of people. Like, the whole town is here. Wherever "here" is. Somewhere on the south side of town. But like legit tho, the whole town is here. I wonder what this crowd is for...

At this point, Caligo has split off from the rest of the group. You aren't all in the same location.

You do realize the town is like completely deserted of people, right?

You can make an Athletics or Acrobatics check to try to push through the crowd.

You can also like climb on top of nearby buildings or something.
