Okay. I'll use a bonus action to speak a healing word, directed at Alas, healing 7 hp and restoring him to consciousness. I'll then draw my longbow and shoot an arrow at weird number 2.

To hit: 14 + 5 = 19

Damage: 8 + 3 = 11 piercing damage.

 

Now the water weird is going to keep me inside it ;-;

Would've had to go through another turn cycle, which would've meant he'd need to make more death saves.

Well, do you SEE weird 2 on the map? If you can't see it (it's hidden from you, invisible, etc) you have disadvantage on the athack roll.

And you miss. Your heal spell still went through though.

I run up to where Heat hit the Water Weird and strike it with my shortsword

First roll: 4 + 4(dex adj) + 2(prof) = 10
If disadvantage: ...1
I legit rolled a 1

I didn't know it was hidden... you could have explained the situation a bit more. Yes, I know it had already been said somewhere, but this is an over 700 page thread, and information can be missed or lost easily. If I had had a proper description of the situation, I would have taken a different action.

 

I'm sorry. I'm pretty sure I said it disappeared when it went under water. Also it's not visible in the battle map, but yeah, I should have been more clear.

The one Heat attacked is clearly visible, do you don't have disadvantage. You still miss though.

 

Just re-direct the arrow to the weird I could see, instead of the one I couldn't. That's all.

2nd: 9 + 6 = 15
If hit for 2nd: 3 + 4 (dex) = 7

You don't actually know that there is a second weird, since it hasn't become visible since you joined the battle, and no one has attacked it. Right?
