A. I rolled 4 damage, not 3.

B. Being behind a creature (Alas in this case) provides 1/2 cover. However, Sacred Flame ignores 1/2 and 3/4 cover, due to being an attack that calls down a blast from above. I can get a PHB quote for that, if you want.

All the rats are pretty small and hard to hear, but you hear something large further down the tunnels. It sounds like a giant bird.

Damage (2x right, cause NAT 20?)
1) 2 +0STR = 2
2) 3 +0STR = 3
Total of 5 P damage

 

You don't roll twice, you double the dice.

And daggers are finesse. You can use DEX instead of STR for the attack roll (as you did) and for the damage roll.

But you would still end up with 2*2 = 4 + 1 = 5

You still end up with 5 either way

I'll mark down the hp and do the next rats turn tomorrow

I always did it the doubling way and then at some point during this campaign I checked and it is more dice, but then I forgot again XD

I wouldn't recommend doing the same thing again if it failed last time. And seeing as the rats aren't that strong, I would just finish them of quickly.

 

Actually I was talking to a dude yesterday over discord cuz I'm in a gaming group with him and it turns out he played both Wynn and DnD. He asked if he could join and I turned him down due to having 8 people and wanting to keep the multiple of four.

I felt really terrible cuz I don't like turning people down but CR and whatnot...

You can try, but I would recommend just ending the fight as fast as possible
