You can't lift up the demon corpse, y'all be weak. Also it's two sizes larger than y'all (I don't think anyone here counts as a size larger for doing stuff).

You can't get the stuff out from under it, but in your efforts 17 copper coins fall off of it

 

Isn't there a rule in the DMG that if you're willing to spend 10 x the time it takes to make a check (so, 1 minute, in this case), you automatically succeed without a roll?

 

Not to my knowledge. I did I quick search of the DMG using Command-F and nothing came up. If it is in the DMG it would be an optional rule. Checking the PHB now.

And I read through the Ability Checks section of the PHB, nothing.

I don't remember ever reading that anywhere, but if you can provide a page number to verify, I can't argue

Also in any case the whole city is falling apart and exploding and whatnot and you want to spend 1 minute on moving a corpse for some loot?

Although one option is the "working together" option where two people can't attempt the task, and whoever has the highest stat for the check gets help from the other one, essentially the help action, giving advantage on the roll.

The other option is "group checks" which y'all already failed BY FAR

Carefully read the "Multiple Ability Checks" section at the bottom of page 237 of the 5e DMG...

 

We've got 2 out of 7 party members so far (Yevor and Heat).
