An arcane focus, holy symbol (paladin or cleric), druidic focus (ranger or druid) or a material pouch can take away the material component for a spell.

For example, to cast the sanctuary spell you need a small silver mirror. If you have an arcane focus, you dont need the mirror. if you have a pouch you reach inside and the mirror magically appears.

Focus nor Pouch can be used if the material has a cost (for example Reincarnate needs a diamond worth at least 1000gp I think. Since that has a cost, the focus/pouch wont work for it.)

 

I've been away for a week and had no internet, I'm finally back, and I see 40-something pages of unread stuff. Can you please bring me up-to-date, and maybe do some retconning to compensate for my absence?

So the party talked with a Drow named Nilrem who's a powerful bounty hunter who wasn't hunting a criminal wanted for killing his father. Nilrem took the party to the city guard to ask for info about Lettus. During this, they found out that the criminal Nilrem is hunting was Nathaniel.

Anyway, the guards told the party that Lettus lived near the market. They instructed their Warforged, @Nem (new guy) to accompany them. They ran into some bullies but managed to drive them away, ad the cost of the life of a halfling. A bunch of shopping then happened, and Ti Lin is finally getting an arcane focus. After that I think they are going to look for Lettus.

I made the half-elf you were talking to go away... for now...

Also, @SansWolf is joining soon which will bring the party up to 8 people, giving me a multiple of 4 to work with again, making balancing easier.

Yeah. I'm practically a living furnace and I'm a city guard. I mostly use intimidation, fear, authority, etc.
I've been told I'm the tank of the party, so I guess so. I use a warhammer too
