You did a stealth check because you were coming up into his line of sight (triangle). As long as you don't enter the triangle you don't need a check

 

Are you expecting the two groups to reunite at some point? Because this seems like quite a lot for 3 level 3 players, and if they do succeed, they'll be at way unbalanced XP compared to our group.

 

There are a few places where you could sleep easy, I guess, as longs as you rotate watch.

But I built this place a bit different. Very few traps, but you can get far just by being social. Plus a few twists if you do want to raise hell on the place.

Well, yes. OOC I expected your group to ignore the ghouls and help the kids. I expect this group to not murderhobo the whole thing, and have some social interaction, which then sends them back above ground to you.

One a side note, are you the type of DM who rewards XP for completing objectives/doing social stuff/whatever? It kind of varies between people.

I never have in the past but since I've gotten a few campaign books (Out of the Abyss being what I've been reading most) and I've seen how to do it, I was planning on starting it.

No promises, but I figure a bit for curing the children, a bit of maybe doing something with the criminals, and a medium amount for leaving the city

I'm really curious about this now, other than the fact that I said what I expect, I'm curious what you think the outcome of leaving the ghouls will be

 

Out of the Abyss sounds fun. I have some character ideas brewing for that.

 

I mean, the guards have told me already that ghouls shouldn't be able to enter the wards (in theory)... and it's not like the gate is undefended... I feel like we already have a stronger commitment to helping these kids, we should finish the job without getting sidetracked.

 

One of my characters is a warlock who seeks to become a Lich (can't happen till level 18 tho) and his Patron is Orcus (he also half-worships Vecna). I'm curious to see how it wouldn't be to have him there. He would try to help destroy the other demon lords, but defend Orcus
