I cast Light to try and penetrate the fog, and proceed cautiously forward.

 

“I’ll stay a bit away, in case you need to do that thing that likes to burn me as well.”

 

"Right. Just keep about 20 or 30 feet away from me and you'll be fine."

 

Sadly, that does two things

1) If you ever tried putting your headlights up in a fog, you know dim light cuts through fog but bright light makes it harder to see. The fog appears thicket in frotn of you.

2) The three taller figures see the light and towards you. You see them drawing weapons, but cant tell what.

 

I do just that, keeping an eye on the stranger in order to teleport behind them, which I don’t do yet.

 

I summon my sword to my hand with Weapon Bond and ready an action: "If the creatures attack myself or my allies, I cast Lightning Lure at them."

 

I put the light out, relying on darkvision instead.

I whisper to the others, "They seem to be hostile. On guard, quickly!"
