I don't know it from the top of my head, but shooting a projectile from cover does have a specific rule to it, I think it makes you visible or something.

And if it was a generic NPC I would let it instakill, but boss and plot armor and all that

You also need to roll another d4 to determine which stat block I use for him

He got a 16 on the saving throw, he passes.

Also, stat block 3 was the hardest by far. RIP.

No. Him calling them that was referring to the fact that their are no longer Green Dragons, but rather Green Shadow Dragons.

According to the MM, shadow dragons are still "dragon" type, not undead. They do have some changes as shadow dragons, but you would need to be really creative to exploit them.
