In Witchery, they go the route of the fact that Lilith is a Succubus and therefor created the first vampires. You made a deal with her to become a vampire, as she is the origin.

In DnD, Vampirism comes from a dark entity called Vampyr who is nothing more than a Vestige now. He made Strahd into the first vampire, and other vampires learned the secret from that (such as Gulthias).
