I believe it works like a contest, but as to what you roll I'll leave up to Spyro.

"Unproven claims? Are you blind and deaf? Ti'Lin's necklace just disappears, and not only does this man know that it's gone, but where it's gone, and how to find it. He even left a stone key in the place of the necklace so we could get in his house. He sets up his damn attic to lure adventures to try and find their lost items, only to steal more of their stuff by them dying. We found two items on our correct path up there, items for him, and us. How is it that nobody's else's lost stuff was there? Almost like it was meant for us, like he set up that box, with his 'lost stone' to seem innocent. And you dare call my claims unproven?!"

I probably misunderstood but I thought Caligo slashed through Yevor, not the professor.

    ...So far.

I would argue that it takes more than dice rolls to change someone's beliefs.

Especially considering that Erevan recently had a sort of personal epiphany as far as harming innocents is concerned.

No, about "taking control" of someone else's character. Figuring out if another party member is lying is one thing, but Caligo being able to mind-control the party into this makes no sense.
Yevor: "Even if he did steal the necklace, that doesn't mean you can just murder him!"
    ________________________________
Exactly. A high Persuasion/Intimidation roll against another PC just means that it was especially persuasive/scary. Unless Caligo has mind-control powers all of a sudden, he probably won't be changing Yevor's side anytime soon.

Yeah, I would too, but Caligo's expanded reasoning is what you quoted.
I don't know. Once again, Spyro's not here, but I made the roll to prove that he's trying to convince you guys, and if Spyro needs the roll.

"And how many people do you think have died in that attic of his?"

True, but at this point, Yevor's not really listening.

Yevor: "Zero! Maybe one. I don't know where his wife was when she died."

    Fair enough.

"Yevor, we almost died in there, and we're a large party. Say some small-time adventures come through town, lose their items, and Mr. AtticKeeper over here says 'I know where your items are' and leads them to death. I'd say that has a pretty high probability of happening."

"Yes. He's a manipulator who's taken advantage of others' lack of knowledge about magic to gain their trust, money, and equipment. He tried to do it to us, and he'll do it again!"

Based on heavy assumption, this man is defenseless. Meanwhile, everything from his attic to what comes out of his own mouth proves you wrong. Think before you speak, Erevan. At least I know how to think before I act."

In such a state, you choose to commit murder of dubious justification, while surrounded by people who have made it abundantly clear that we find such acts inhumane and distasteful. Think before you act, as you put it very aptly."

"Perchance I misjudged your intelligence, Erevan. Perchance you've already decided to stop listening to me, but allow me to expand further upon my point anyways, as you seem to not be understanding. Maybe manslaughter's not an offence where you come from, but oh, he's already admitted to committing it in the form of butler construction. But that's not enough to kill him over, no, not at all, I just thought I bring it up. Let's go back to before we entered the attic. This man decides to play with others' items and lives like a game. Riddles, songs, mysterious keys, only to let us know at the end that this was all his doing, but to never obtain guilt from it. By the time we were finished, everything was okay. No questions as to what we saw, or if his little box of tips and tricks were helpful, because he already knows everything. Whether we die, other whether we walk away alive, it doesn't matter, because at the end of the day, for him, the only thing he might've lost was a little extra gold to pay for his bread. I know an evil wizard when I see one, Erevan. I've worked in the business of working with them, and working against them."

"And if I am wrong? We save this town from his trouble, the stuff he does not even concerning his attic."
