I think there's probably some rule for that, but eh, I like rolling for each instance. Remember, the first damage roll was a 7. The others have been significantly lower (except for Alfred, who's death is more or less insignificant), so it works out for you guys

There is a specific rule for this, though digging up the quote would take time I don't feel like spending.

 

I actually didn't know if there was a specific rule or not. I know most DMs use the same number for all AoEs, but I never have. I'll go digging in the PHB later

The hound runs up to @Nem and bites him. I'm avoiding using multiattack because this monster is already stronger than expected

It hits, just barely. Ties with AC, tie passes.

The Multiattack thing was intentionally overpowered. The original hound didn't have Multiattack, but I put it in to punish getting into melee range even more. Attacking from range significantly lowers its damage output, which was the intention. Multiattack in melee range is downright absurd, but it's weak enough at range to not be a crazy threat.

Also, remember that it loses turns as the health pools go down, so finishing it off in melee range isn't an impossible feat.

Upon reading up on more and more DnD lore, one thing is clear. The gods are invasive a**holes.

Like, the outer planes were more or less being ruled by aberrations {namley Aboleths" (with the exception of the Abyss, being ruled by Obyrth demons) and the inner planes being ruled by primordials.

Then the gods showed up and slayed all the Aboleths (who now all hate gods). Then they waged war against the primordials, leaving almost all of them dead (there's one or two still alive in Sword Coast). THEN they all took their own realms and most of them tried to kill all the demons in the abyss, which BACKFIRED HORRIBLY.

Like actually, they legit just showed up and killed everyone. The only pre-god being still alive is The Lady of Pain, because she can literally kill gods with just a thought.

So yeah.
