    You don't add your ability modifier. It's just a flat 2d8 or 2d12.

    That being said, it should be 21 damage. He wrote in that +3 which he wasn't supposed to, but if you do the math, he didn't add it.

    However, something weird happens.

    The beast seems... happy by the bell sounds it hears. It's energized. It's healed!

    Yeah, don't use necrotic damage against this guy. He has a feature called "Doom Absorption of Doom". I think you get the point.
