Make an attack roll. When throwing something, you use the same modifier as a normal attack. Since I don't think Alfred has the finesse property if you are swinging him around by his tail, use STR, not DEX.

I drop the illusion, making the loud sound of clopping horses behind the beast to see if it does anything.

 

It twists around, and perks it's ears up.

 

I make the sound disappear as soon as it turns.

 

It looks around quickly, then turns back to you.

 

I create the sound again, at first quieter, then back to how it was.

 

It may be stupid, but it's not THAT stupid. It learns. It ignores the sound.

How about the sound of footsteps?

It turns around, realizes there's no steps, then turns back.

The hound is done playing games. There's a reason I made these crevices deep, but not made for too many people.

The hound exhales a cone of black smoke are you. It goes in a small cone, and just barely reaches you, but no one beyond you. DEX save, please. (The original length of the cone was 15 ft, but since it's not mean to be a ranged enemy, I shortened it to 10)
