I got a question, how much scripting was involved in programming the game?

 

I've got no school on at the moment, I'm getting a lot done.

I came up with a guide idea. It would would show information ingame from the pause menu (if there isn't one, then the inventory). It would show all (or encountered ones only) enemies and items with stats and pictures. Since you already have an item system, I created a possible enemy one. For enemies, the thing under the picture is attack type (melee/ranged/etc). Also, the thing on the left is a scroll bar.

 

Sounds cool, I could do something like that, easy

 

Okay I think I just need to say this.

Dungeon Spire started out as a project that will help me better understand the program I'm using, GameMaker, and how to use it, and it's best used to make 2D games, ofcourse (which I prefer). I've definitely learnt a lot of things, and I also decided to post it here, the place where I'm most active, to see what people think. People started noticing it, heck, there are videos on it now which is pretty cool. And I've snowballed a small following here.

The thing is, though, I have absolutely no idea where I am exactly taking this game. The process I'm going through at the moment is: "What would be cool in the game? This. What else would be cool? This." Which is bad, because I'm generating all this stuff, like a very far-fetched story that I can't achieve within like 2 years, All these mechanics, a massive map, heck I wanted to make this an MMO.

As a small developer I can't really follow this and I don't know what I'm really doing. For the time being I'm going to be putting this project on hold and start working on smaller projects, with a plan, that I can actually finish and is more realistic.

This does not mean I'm quitting this project, I'll probably keep working on this, just not as much. I'll probably just be working on projects with a plan that I can finish, and add a slice of Dungeon Spire in the middle.

EDIT: I'll try to get 0.07 out though.

 

is there anyway that one may join your te-am? i would love to help with the art

I think you do know what you are really doing...

 

and if you had ppl working with you, small projects? done, or you do those projects and a team will take over the project
but you still neeed to approve of anything big like
adding a a new legendary item or major

 

A shame to see it end, but I fully understand your reasons.
It's good to see how much you've accomplished though. Still remember the first build. :P

 

We make individual sprites mostly, but sometimes he requests specific items.

 

This is sad, but I understand completely. Maybe you could get a junior coder if anyone is able.

 

It's not completely ending, I might come back to this.
But I've got something really cool in the works at the moment, might post it here once it's got some substance

Sorry, didn't get the notifications for these new posts XD great job on the game, while i'm waiting for the mac version, its nice to see the game come along. and I hope to make some animations of the game for fun :3 who knows! but its coming along incredibly well. although I am sad that you wont be working on it as much, I accept the fact that it takes away time you don't want to spend that way, but working on something else.
Also, did you replace the dog quest I made with crypt crawler? just wondering :3
