Does Archer Seem Kind Of Weak To Anyone Else?

I think the problem with Archer is that you need a lot of skill to do hard bossfights with it, at least in endgame. In early and mid game, you can get by with archer just by strafing the target, well, until you get arrow bomb at least. Now, in LI, it’s not that simple. You have to spam escape to keep yourself off the ground to dodge stuff so you don’t get shred apart. This also requires a lot of mana and intelligence, making archer builds without intel almost completely useless. Anyone who’s seen motoki’s video of soloing LI with archer knows what I’m talking about

Much of archer's weakness are made up for in spells, Arrow Shield takes care of most problems close range, the rapid arrow spell has decent enough knockback, escape spell can be pretty useful, and the arrow bomb can take care of a mob of enemies. As long as arrow sheild is up, most fights become easier.

Ice Barrows is pretty hard, especially since old SST is really easy. You also don't really have the option of Arrow Shield to keep distance, since most of the mobs take either zero or negative knockback. For me as archer, Ice Barrows was the hardest thing until Death in ToA.

 

Huh, interesting to note. Maybe I'm just not giving archer enough credit and I'm judging their weaknesses too hard.

 

As an archer main, I can say that archer is for sure not underpowered. Not many people realize it, but escape is easily one of the most broken spells in the game. You can dodge almost every enemy spell with escape, launch 2-3 10k arrow bombs while in the air, go into arrow shield and press shift to land while stunning and knocking back enemies for another 10k. Rinse and repeat. It does take some time to adjust to a play style like this since you won’t ever be on the ground, but it’s well worth it to achieve no hit runs on LI or other bosses.

 

the 2 classes I enjoy playing the most are archer and warrior strangely enough, the 2 opposites but yea with archer I am used to dodge while fighting on close range with only using bomb arrow. on the other end with warriors movement in a fight I end up with just using A LOT of potions but it gets the job done faster than archer.

Mage and archer cap at about 60% and 40% natural damage reduction from defense.

The main issue with the viability of archer as uh a tank or something that can take more then a few hits (without agility and a fuck ton of hp) is how defense is calculated.

Archers class defense is fine, its simply a glitch making defense additive, and not multiply, which causes the cap at 40%.

If you wish to live longer I recommend you avoid putting skill points into defense as a archer, and focus on agility as defense is unargueably the worse state in game, mainly on anything that isn't worrior.

 

What're you talking about? So far I've been able to solo all major bosses up to qira as archer without that good of knowledge about specific builds to help me. The only reason I haven't done qira yet is because I've been doing other things besides hive and li.

I guess it's just the super low defense that I'm worried about. I'm worried about the glass cannon being too glassy. I think I've found my stride a bit though since this post. Always have arrow shield up, always sprint, and down health potions like no tomorrow.

 

Also Agility is pretty helpful. Even the best builds (excepting Ignis or something) are going to get 2-shot or 3-shot by LI bosses, so playing archer basically comes down to not getting hit.
