OR I just came into the Dark Forest and fucked them all up while trying to ask for directions to Cinfras.

Perhaps... but I think that they are both 'guardians' of certain things. Basically, they are both ancient races. But the Devourers were enslaved by someone or something. The only possible idea I have right now is that they are controlled by the Decay. But I have yet to explore the Kander Forest and Light Forest at all, though I will soon. Btw, do you mean that the Ancients might control the Devourers? Well, I'm not sure if there is much of a link. Again, I really need to check those two areas. Well actually, I only really need to check the Kander Forest, since that is apparently the other main location of the Devourers. But the Light Forest is where the Nymphs come from, so I want to know more about them.
This is possible... well, there are some of those Kappa nearby. Kappa are known to drop alga. You deal alga like Yahya deals mushrooms. So maybe that has something to do with it...

    @Devourer

So I was doing a speed run over to cinfras and then to ahmsord, and I happened to some across a devourer. I took a screen shot if you want it...

Wait, where was it? Near Cinfras, near Ahmsord or somewhere else? And did you find more than one in the same place?

Dunno if I'm just lucky, but people seem to say Devourers are rare, while I see them all the time.

You definitely aren't lucky. I can see them all the time in the Dark Forest. Unless of course you visit the Timestone Cave a lot, then you aren't lucky. And they might mean that they are rarer than most mobs and are rarely seen together in their enslaved forms, while the escaped ones are only found in the two places I have seen... as of yet...

I only saw one. It was in the dark forest. I went llevengar > Olux > some town starting with a G > Cinfras > Adriori> Thanos > some town starting with a T > almost rordoc or whatever (I was at the gate, but it never said welcome to town) > Ahsmord

I saw the devourer between Olux and Cinfras. I forget if it was before the G town or after.

Gelibord. And the Dark Forest is the place west of Gelibord (everything east is the Kander Forest) so you saw it there, which is the main place for Devourers to be found.
Sure! If you can find any outside the Dark Forest, Kander Forest and the swamps then I would be interested. Likewise, if you find a place (e.g. a cave) where they seem spawn as much as most mobs do in caves, then that would be interesting. Also, any sightings of Escaped Devourers which aren't in the two places I found would also be interesting.
Right next to the taproot sorceress's house, so quite a usual place to see them. But still, at least you found one in the end! Or rather, it found you... And I'm surprised you survived it at level 50, I had to get as far away from it as possible while conserving mana and firing meteors at it at the same time at level 55. Urgh... why didn't I just run the opposite direction to Olux to let the Guard Golems finish it off?"
I survived it because it looked me in the eyes. That is truly scary.
    Same. Here:

I as trying to speed run to cinfras, no way was I going back to Olux. I did just fine fighting it. My biggest problems were in the canyon of the lost. Those stupid harpies and werecats...

I was doing the From the Mountains quest and a Kappa followed me into the hermit's cave. I killed it and it dropped Alga. And another clue to which areas have mobs dropping alga is that the junk merchants often buy alga.
I haven't been to the Canyon of the Lost yet. Those moments when you are glad you are only level 69.

I am running around molten heights and sky islands at lvl 50. You at lvl 69 should be fine in the canyon. (watch out for harpies and werecats though. They have killed me so many times)

I'm a mage and last time I checked, I had negative walk speed. Things like the Devourers and the Timestone which interest me are usually found in caves. And I am really bad at fighting in or escaping from caves.
    ________________________________
I am a mage with bad luck. And besides, I like to go to places at the appropriate level so I can take in every detail without worrying about being knocked into a canyon.
I think the speed is given to them artificially, since the escaped Devourers barely move at all. I think the only reason they have the air element is because they also have the earth element and those two don't really mix.
