Hello Server-Team and hi Wynnies (actuall word for wynncraft player?),
in my livetime, I got many server and many server-network, which were pretty big so I know the problem with DDos. I'm 18 years old and I'm from germany so excuse my bad english. At the time of my last network I got many DDos-attacks and the set my server and my whole network every day down (which was pretty awkward).
I don't know how you organize your servers but I think a kind of Bungee-Cord is the system. So, my solution that DDos-attacks doesn't annoy and gets the server down (as it actually is), you should use cloud-server for the bungee-cord system. I think, I must not explain cloud-server (even that there is google) but it does the thing for me. A Bungee-Cord server must do actually nothing compared with the game-server, so a cloud-server should do the work very well.
    See you, Paul :)

If you get 'DDoS'd, it means someone is 'attacking' you.
You will lose (most) of your Internet during the attack, I believe.

If a single person gets attacked, that is called a 'DOS'. If a server gets attacked, that is called a 'DDOS'. You're basically overloading the server with a shit load of packets.

Actually, it's slightly different. A DoS attack is when a single computer attacks another computer. The computer with the faster connection wins. A DDoS attack is when a bunch of computers on different networks all attack the same computer or web server. These attacks are much more powerful because of the sheer number of computers attacking. The extra D stands for "Distributed", because the attack comes from many computers around the world, often through a virus or other hack.

And since when has Wynncraft ever been DDoS'ed? Really the only people who would actually try to DDos the server are lil' script kiddies which have got banned because they think their hacked client is 'cool' and fired up HOIC or LOIC to DDoS the server, which they then get caught by the feds because a DoS, or DDoS is illegal. Even if they did try, a small scale attack that 3 script kiddies did, would take Jumla, what? about 10 minutes to start-up the server again? Knowing the Wynn team they probably already have some sort of DDoS protection running...

    Well
Most of the time the server crashes and it doesn't come back up, its generally because Jumla has accidentally bumped the button labelled "Crash to fuck up everything for people".
Alright seriously though. When the server goes down, its normally due to bugs and glitches.

I can confirm Wynncraft is in fact Bungee-Cord.

When I play on 1.9 Wynncraft shows up saying I can't play because it is Bungee-Cord 1.8

Yes it is Bungee-Cord and yes wynncraft has a protection, I knew this. I also had protections for my networks but sometimes the ddos-attacker are even more than kiddies. In their brain they are probably kiddies but in real world they have some sort of ddos-networks and this is more than annoying. It can destroy your hardware. And on Sunday such a DDos were on Wynncraft and the best thing which the team can do to protect the hardware was to set all servers down. A Cloud-Server is not only one host. It is a compilation of many servers (sometimes more than 100). So you get a better performance which means fewer lags and if you get ddosed as on sunday, you jeopardize not your hardware because there is no real hardware. Its in the cloud (and even better than V-Host). I prefer root-server with a good hardware where you can tinker a little bit too, but for a bungee-cord server a cloud-server is not only faster and easier, it is also more safe for your hardware and not all of your servers must restart or come down for a while.
