it's mainly the prismarine that does it. deleting or decreasing it would help.

I understand that the block palette is limited, but, for example, current Freezing Heights does not look like mirror room. You've been using many bright and clear colors in the Gavel revamp, and until now one of the only places where we have seen something like that is EO (and Detlas, often referred to when talking about new Cinfras), and I believe that is what causes the effect. I personally don't have that much against the build style itself, but the fact that bright colors and clear structures like these are used in so many places is a bit too much, and it makes the locations feel far less... "real", and there is less of an "exploration" vibe to them. The fact that EO was one of the only strucures to use them made it feel a lot more "alien" and mysterious.

Just the transition is much sharper, that's all.

Do places have to feel "real"? Personally at least, I much much prefer running through a vibrant scene with lots of colour, rather than a dull one that primarily uses stone and some other blocks thrown in there on a whim. Current Freezing Heights is characterised by it being like, 80% snow, and like okay, it definitely captures the idea that "brr dragon froze place", but if "brr dragon froze place" I expect it to feel REALLY CHILLY and clearly frozen over, rather than just "//replace %80snow_block20%stone"

Fully agree, but you still do not get "flame, lava, lava, lava, suddenly ice, ice..." with almost no transition. I guess I will have to persuade @Blastbasher to show them to me live on discord

The sole reason EO was one of the only structures to use style is because it was the first time the new build style was prominently used in builds. I think the fact that it is a massive massive structure the size of two decent size cities in a biome with a bunch of swirly obsidian spikes with purple magic shit floating around them should make it feel "alien", not the fact that it doesn't use Wynncraft's old build style.

Sure, I get that why it may feel off, probably prominent moreso in those pictures than in-game though. I'll try to get on and show you some pictures from the player's point of view if you want.

Anyway I get what you mean, there is a transition but it is super super small and definitely not noticeable from far away,

@Korvey12_KH Made freezing heights and most of mh terrain, so if you have any ideas on how it could be improved he probably wouldn't mind listening and changing stuff if time ( and hahmudiya) permits.

Personally I really fucking love the new freezing heights. The vibrant colors make it more interesting, compared to the old where it seemed less fantasy-esque. The old freezing heights was fine I guess, but remember. This was frozen by a fucking ice dragon in the middle of the war between two mythical fire creatures. If I’m there I want to feel like I’m in fucking Narnia, not Alaska.

Currently, you can see that is a slow transition. It looks like the dragon's breath went on, getting weaker in the process until having no effect.

In beta it look like the breath just suddenly stopped, being barriered to only one are, not a block further with a minimal area where the ice and magma cannot decide who will be there.

Perhaps you could create something like the old transition but with the new build style?

Personally I think Frozen Heights is fine. I kind of see what people mean about it looking like the mirror room, but that's solely in palette really - everything else is completely different.

I 100% agree, also I don't understand why people are saying it looks like mirror cave, mirror cave looks nothing, NOTHING like Freezing Heights to me (Unless they reworked it in Beta). The reason people compare things to EO is because it was the first build with this new style, there are small parts of it that are used in other builds that give off that vibe but personally I think its just the colours don't get changed when the same parts of builds get used, for instance the red pillars in EO also match the Rodoroc entrance pillars, its a small detail and there isn't anything I would personally change. Also the look of the pillars with the cut tops is used a lot now (Which I love very much). Everyone will get used to the new build style, I have as soon as I saw it but that's just me.

Also please can we have 1.16 blocks in Wynncraft? :) Bet the builders would have some fun with that

honestly I think it’s because (and please correct me if I’m wrong I came after 1.19) Silent Expanse is supposed to be this whole mysterious place with its own style and if something looks like, or gives off the same feeling Lutho or EO does in places like Wynn or Gavel, it might feel off to some people because it’s something they associate with SE, and SE is very far from Wynn and Gavel in terms of well, anything I guess.

I don’t want to speak for anyone, that’s just what I think is happening.

Personally, I think all the builds look really awesome, and again I don’t want to speak for anyone or twist anyone’s words.
This is just my take on the situation. :)

I mean, the houses in Lutho for example look nothing alike anywhere else on the map. The terrain is also completely completely different to anywhere else. It's just that the general build styles used focus way more on the shape, palette, etc of the build rather than just throwing in slabs/stairs on a stone or wooden house and giving it a different coloured roof, which is pretty much what used to happen - that's just the way we build now, rather than any real similarity between SE and the rest of the builds imo. (I definitely get the comparisons between rodo gate and eo though, and if I have time and permission I'll try to change some things that people dislike for a patch after release)

Yeah, I don't get the comparisons to Lutho either. But the identical architectural styles across vastly different parts of the map is a little disorienting.

I think I get it, it's just a new style being implemented, not just recreating SE's style.

It's probably just because the new style was showcased in SE, which is this almost separate realm to Wynn and Gavel (that's what it seems like to me, at least) so when some of the style of it seems to leak into Wynn and Gavel, it's a bit shocking.

Tbh, I'm genuinely awful at building so I don't think I'm really licensed to comment, again I think it all looks pretty awesome.

I also really don't mean to be insulting to either side or pick any fights, I could be completely off with all this and if so feel free to let me know, that's just what I think is happening. :)

Edit: I have added a bunch of old & new images of Molten Heights, they aren't the exact same frame between them like the Eltom ones but I did as best as I could to position myself for the screenshot :)
