    For the type of character we’re discussing?
    Maybe something like having your Crell enter the magic world and attacking the enemies Crell from there.

    Because a finish move was something big but has big drawbacks.
    So for a fire elementalist, can I have an example? Of what the moves does and what happens afterwards. So we have a general scale of how big to make the finisher.

    For a fire user it might be something like causeing a tornado of smoke and fire.
    For someone that use wind and lightning magic it might be causing a localized lightning storm.

    I have one possible npc that manifests his magic in the form of swords, basically summoning and manipulating magic swords. His ultimate would be covering an area with swords that he can use to fight or control telekinetically.

    But then what's the thing that happens afterwards?
    Would it just be massive energy consumption? Not something like, paralysis for 10 minutes after using the skill (which definitaely screws you in combat)

    I see what you mean, massive energy consumption. Characters will get more powerful throughout the rp so it won’t affect characters so much towards the end

    Whelp my magic system has taken over two pages already.

    Maybe

    Basically at the age 14-15 mages move from academic learning to actually going and fighting monsters, which will make both mage and Crell stronger. As well as learning from other mages or books, which I’ll probably include as a time passing mechanic, like if you need to wait until a certain time just get a book for your character to read so they might learn new spells or other goodies ;)

    Tentative map of Etrad, the country the the city of Ebonscar is in which is where the Igrathal School is. That was long sentence. I’ll explain some cities more in the actual roleplay thread. I’m setting it up so that Etrad occupies the space of current day North and South Carolina, and the rest of the world is a mirror of our world now just with different countrys and names. Also having a character come from out of country would be totally fine.

    Sorry this is taking me a while.

    I’ve realized that my spell system would end up being frustratingly complicated to use, so I’m making a few changes to alleviate that. First, if you really want to stick to the heavy magic system I won’t stop you, but I’m going to make it so that players can describe what they want rather than spellcasting, and I’ll fill in the spell casting for them. Basically you can say what you want rather than a spell and I’ll fill in the spell for you. Secondly, most players will probably make their characters old enough that I will assume those characters to have learned the basic spells, inclusive of basic control of most or all elements as well as stuff like shields and minor telekinetics. Hopefully I will get the full thread running this week so thank you for being patient.
