noticed that it managed to immediately kill all of ankarin's minions when they entered its weird room thingy. Clearly, they had to be incredibly careful when attacking it. Since it couldn't hurt them before they entered its room and wasn't in any way impervious to attacks (just really strong), they decided to use the incredibly sophisticated tactic of gathering as much TNT as possible and blowing up the entire building.
