Warrior/Knight could something like this work?

so i saw that the tactician spear has a interesting major id on it

Battlefield Brilliance: Generalist instead makes your next Main Attack deal quadruple damage, followed by a tactical retreat.

and i was wondering if this could be used to get a lot of melee damage but my warrior is only like lvl 50 so I cant test because the spear is lvl 106 it can anyone do this for me?
