Cosmetic Helmets Missing Texture?

So I use 1.11.2, and so do my friends, they can all see this guy's cool helmet, but for me it appears as a mushroom block. The version of the pack I'm using says it's for an earlier version of minecraft, so is there a 1.11.2 version I have to download or something?

 

You should turn server resource packs on and use the pack which automatically gets downloaded upon logging in.

 

So unless I use the actual pack, there's no other way to see them? It's really convenient being able to pre-load it :(

 

You could transfer the file from your server resource pack folder onto your real resource packs, but it'll be broken and outdated whenever the next update to it comes, so I wouldn't recommend doing it.
