Confused about the use of some abilities (Riftwalker)

Been playing riftwalker and a couple abilities seem like theyd be useful but im not sure what their purpose is in practice. The ones of my mind specifically are Displacement and Sentient Snake (Ice Tornado).
Displacement on paper is a really useful get of of jail card, but in practice it doesnt really seem to do anything any regular teleport couldnt do
Sentient Snake with Ice Tornado makes it so when you throw it instead of floating forward it'll float towards the nearest enemy, but the effect area of the ice tornado is so big i feel like its unrealistic that anyone would regularly miss with it, especially with snake nest
am i misreading these moves or are they not really worth using?
