this whole thing is kinda funny. One faked image solved the gilded eyefolk hunt (more or less) and also lead to another clue for the alter hunt with which its major part was also solved. based person honestly

 

what was the clue for the void altar?
also @Da Homeboi why was the bounty lowered

 

idk about the void altar thing
but the bounty was lowered because one of the donations was retracted after that guy faked it

 

That was me, the whole reason I spent a whole stx on it even with me always being low on LE was because I wanted to encourage people to help find it, since I really like secret hunting. The thing is, it really ruins the magic of a secret when someone cheats the answer, and in my opinion faking proof to bait a CT (or even just unintentionally baiting) to reveal such a major part of it is absolutely cheating it, and really scummy at that. I'm not the only one either, Deus expressed disinterest in following this any further once she found out the image was faked. I just don't feel like supporting the hunt very much anymore when most of it has been unfairly revealed. At least one other bounty donator has said they plan to keep their bounty in, at least. Sorry again.

yeah i can understand where you're coming from. At this point it's just a "go loot symposium and get lucky" hunt.

The "Void Altar secret hunt" thread on #general of the Wynncraft Discord has anything you might be missing, but knowing exactly what challenge is a huuuuge boost imo.

 

Think about the context was the hint which was an addon to another hint.

It was lowered cuz a guy pulled his bounty out.

 

Not sure about you but nothing about the faked image situation is funny to me

Not sure why several people here are happy about the location being narrowed down, the solution was gotten from a CT through plain deception

An unintentional one, most likely, but the damage has still been done

 

im pretty sure that screenshot is from live actually, which is pretty funny

i am incredibly annoyed that that person ruined the whole thing by staging a screenshot and just happening to put it in the right place and honestly my suggestion at this point is to just scrap the bounty since there's no longer anything to stop anyone from staging it again and claiming the bounty for themselves

I'll still keep my 32 LE contribution and baj will also still keep the 2 stx for some incentive. Now in order to claim the bounty you must take a picture of the mob and explain what happened before it appeared, which would then be verified by other people who also do the same thing and find it some time later.

But yea, thankfully this was done by somebody who just wanted a quick dopamine hit and didn't expect the fallout that would ensue from this, and not somebody who wanted the money. This whole scandal is why I'm probably never going to add another bounty for a mystery again, and would highly advise others to not do what I did for this, because this pretty much showed future scammers what to do to get a quick buck and ruining the fun as it goes.

I just saw this thread today after not looking at forums all day and this whole thing ended quite anticlimactically. So basically someone "faked" an image but then it turns out it's only half fake and that it revealed the location anyways...?

Honestly it would have been cooler to have this thing spawn in the false respite/GotT challenges since those have lore tied to them, and it's also kind of weird to have a "rare mob" spawn inside a cave that only really has mobs you need to kill to progress. It also seems very out of place there as well...are you 100% sure this isn't a red herring that's trying to deter us from the actual spawn place?

Either way this sudden reveal with no real hinting around kind of killed the fun in this hunt. Even the suspicious egg thing ended up peaking my interest more and most of that was just walking around/exploring/proffing until something happened. Hopefully they don't ruin the void altar thing too with such a blatant screenshot...let the players have the fun figuring this stuff out on their own while we're still ignorant.

 

I wonder if the Gilded drops anything special...

After checking all of level 100+ ingredients from Wynncraft Item Help it seems it doesn't drop any level 100+ ingredient. Considering it's level 110 it probably doesn't drop anything below level 100

 

It’s definitely not a red herring, Deusphage (the CT member) sent the screenshot she had taken earlier (she encountered it on the first challenge of a run) because she thought it had been found legitimately.
The Void Altar is also solved (well, the main part of it, there’s a minor part still that was added more recently.

The Psionic Quill ingredient given by The Hoarder turns into a Voidblown Quill, and if you bring to the Hoarder he has some dialogue.

It used to drop LE, that was replaced with EB for some unknown reason, and then the EB was removed. So it may not drop anything now.

 

Oh wow okay. I didn’t realize that someone faked an image to get the answer out of Deusphage, I just thought they faked it randomly and it happened to be right. That’s so sad.

It is good that they didn’t actually want the money, but it ended up ruining the hunt anyway which sucks for everyone.
At least the spawn conditions, if any, weren’t given out so it isn’t fully revealed yet.

 

Nah it was most likely unintentional on the faker's part (like I literally said in the message you replied to), but she still got tricked into it which doesn't make the feeling any worse

You have to tell them how you got it though, and it has to be verified by others, before you can claim it
