You dip you hand into the river.
The current is incredibly strong, and the river is probably at least 3-4 feet deep.
You head back.

You decide to go back to the well.

Nothing has changed thankfully.
What now?

 

Then path behind house? (Unless this is the same one) Inwhich case, I meant of the two paths in the lower right, take the topmost one

 

Head to the path we didnt visit

 

You go back to the house and travel down the path a little. You come to a crossroad and go left.

You're going deeper into the forest...
The path keeps going straight, but to the side is a little pond, with a seat and fishing rod of to the side.

There's a dirt path straying from the main path, down deeper into the forest.
What do you do?

 

Fishing time, see if fishing without bait works, if nothing happens after a while, take the rod and head off the main path

 

Sorry this took so long

You pick up the fishing rod and try to fish.
The fishing rod doesn't have any string, because of course it doesn't.
Not to mention, the water is pretty shallow and clear, and you don't see any fish...

You try taking the rod for later, but you can't because you have no place to put it, and your pockets aren't big enough to hold a fucking fishing rod.

You decide to head off the main path down deeper into the woods...

Every tree looks the same...
The path feels like its endless...
Nothing here seems out of place...
And you feel like if you go off-path you'll never find your way back...

Why keep going down when there's no bottom?
What do you do?

 

"Man, why did I leave the fishing rod there, I can just hold it in my hands. Good to distract myself with if I get bored. Or if there is a threat, I'll have a weapon." Head back, and just hold the fishing rod in your hands. No need for pockets when you can just hold it. Then return back onto the path, more confident, and continue on.

Even if its a glorified stick, pretty handy to have more range.

 

Fine.

You decide to go back to the pond, pick up the fishing rod, and then instantly regret picking it up because now one of your hands is occupied.
(from now on, every action will talk about the fishing rod, and how much you really wish you didn't pick it up until later)

You walk back down into the seemingly endless woods, more "confident" that you picked up something that wont even come in handy untill you have string.


All you can think about is how much you hate holding this fishing rod.

What do?

 

Walk down the path while holding the fishingrod

 

And knowing that it will outweigh the con of having a hand slot occupied, because if you need both hands, you can put it down

You also know that you should ignore the negative talk about putting it back

"Hmm, maybe I was a long distance runner previously, and if so I should be able to handle a simple rod in my hand. Would probably take more willpower than consistantly running and your brain telling you to stop, slow down. A rod should be nothing."

 

You are currently doing that.

And you are incredibly bored.
Turns out, walking with a fishing rod doesn't exactly relieve boredom, only makes your writs tired.

You start bitching about your fishing rod out loud.
A squirrel throws an acorn at you and tells you to quote "SHUT UP ABOUT YOUR TINY DICK FISHERMAN!"
You are now incredibly confused about why you understood a squirrel. It didn't even speak English, you just knew what it was saying by it's squeaks!

You wish you knew if there was anything actually down this path.
Now do what now?

Uh, go back to the house. It looks like nothing else is here

 

"Man, this world hates me having the fishing rod, hell a squirrel yelled at me. I'm pretty sure there's something that this fishing rod can do that the bloody world I'm stuck in does not want. Also, must explain why this fishing rod is causing me more pain than several things."

"On the other hand, this path is getting me no where, like walking in a circle, so I'll head back, then head back to the house I guess."

"Maybe I could use the fishing rod as a walking stick in the basement."

 

You get off the endless path and head back to the house.

But then once you get back to the pond, you remember that you just came from the house.
How do you forget so much in such a short amount of time?

You put the fishing rod back, and mentally agree that you'll only pick it back up once you actually need it.

Whataya do now?

 

This feels a bit controlling ngl

The use of the fishing rod wont come until later, and honestly if I keep talking about the rod it'll just come off as annoying.
I'm sorry but that's just the way things are.
You can pick it up when you get a backpack.

You aren't really sure what to do here without a way to see inside the basement...

And if that doesn't provide any results after a while, go to the right, or whatever direction in the path we didn't go

Also I still don't see why any harm with moving the fishing rod, unless its some Goldberg contraption with it needing to be in the perfect place for the string snake to find it's rod, but I'll carry on. Just miffs me.
